Huh? .... this is a piss take right? ..... its a monumental overreaction and people are making fun of the overreation yeah?

Boy band fans get a bit precious when you make jokes about their idols. Even incredibly unfunny jokes like those in that video.

Izzy has started a GoFundMe page hoping to raise $3m for his legal fees to fight for his right to play rugby and say what he f**king likes notwithstanding if it offends. He is suing ARU for $10m.

On the basis that he is not pledging to repay donors if he wins, 2MMM have started their own GoFundMe page and pledge to give it all to Rugby Australia so they can defend the case.

IMHO it’s a bit of a stretch for Izzy to cry poor after he’s been collecting circa $1-2m per year for a better part of a decade. This is not a case that has arisen by chance and burdened Izzy through no fault of his own. He went into this situation with open eyes knowing fully of the consequences. I would think that the court of public opinion would not side with Izzy and have little sympathy for him.

Having said that, I note that the conservative commentators are getting behind him. Alan Jones, Bettina Arndt, Miranda Devine, Andrew Bolt have all labelled this as an attack on free speech and a result of over-zealous hand wringing by the PC brigade.

This is the bit I don't understand.

He is free to say what he likes.

The issue is that his terms of employment have specific conditions in relation to use of social media. If he breaches those it's a breach of contract.

Its no different to most people's employment contracts. If I was using my real name and being an absolute dickface on social media and it got back to my employer, I would expect to be reprimanded and/or sacked.

Izzy is a disingenuous merkin and his fanboys can get f**ked.

Where's the option for 7?

7. It's not about whether there is or isn't a God. I don't WANT there to be a God, because I want to be a self-indulgent degenerate who doesn't have to face any guilt and/or I want to be self-righteous and morally superior.

Personally, I think most atheists fit into that category.

I'm so over the Izzy thing, Fox are putting out heaps of articles daily about this.

He breached the terms of his contract, End of story.

If he is claiming free speech then why did he sign it. This bullshit about free speech is a firthy anyway. Some things you just cannot say without suffering the consequences in Oz.

There are lots of self indulgent, self righteous and morally superior f**kwits who pretend they believe in God.

In fact, 'morally superior' is a term that better describes people who extol all of the virtues of being Christian but behave like complete merkins. At least an atheist isn't pretending to be something that they are not.

Izzy didn't get fired for posting scripture like he claims. He got fired for his Meme, his Meme was not scripture. Had he simply posted scripture he would not be in this mess.

Agree. The amount of bible patriots who behave with zero empathy to their fellow man with a ruthless self-focused life strategy in direct contrast to the teachings of their compassionate Jesus is astounding and nothing less than shameless hypocrisy.

Yeah but not many of the scriptures would probably align with his level of bigotry.

To the defence of those good Christians, the most you see on social media or the news are the outspoken hypocrites and yeah there is quite a lot of them. But there are also many of those who don't make a song and dance, they quietly go about their business and actually do good. You probably work with such people without knowing it. Atheists won't know about these people and what they do if they don't associate with such people.

I was at my local gym this morning working out with a gay couple, we spoke about God and religion and it was an easy conversation, no ill will, no awkwardness or judgement. It's not hard but in anything, if we want to find the bad we will and society simply wants to find the bad now. You share a good news story online it barely gets noticed, but post something where someone does something wrong, we're all suddenly righteous judges.

Of course there are plenty of Christians who quietly go about their business and do lots of good things. I'm sure there are plenty of kind hearted atheists as well.

At its very simplest there are good people and there are merkins. Their religious persuasion is usually a secondary thing for me (unless f**kwits like HJ make it a thing and I feel obliged to provide some balance).

People want to be outraged and then others want to be outraged by that outrage. Its shit, but a lot of us are guilty of being caught in that trap sometimes. I know I have been.
