I saw a show on SBS about an Indian merkin in his 30’s who started off working at a Quickiemart, went to tafe and got a job at a bank. The show was about the pressure he had from his family about getting hitched. His Dad set him up with an Indian girl from over there and he flew over to meet her. He liked her and talked to her about life in western Sydney. He said “think of what life would be like in India living like a millionaire. Everyone lives like a millionaire in Sydney.”

Yes they get a better life here. Just notnas good as ours. Soon penalty rates will be phased out so big companies can have larger profits.

Except I've got nothing to do with that. It's in the past. My life is now. Most of my kids' lives will occur in the future. I want them to have better lives than mine, not worse. I want them to have more opportunity, not less. Do I really want them to be second class citizens, enshrined in the constitution, based on their race? It's bad enough that they were born with me as their father, and not someone wealthier, now I should support a policy that benefits others at their expense?

My organisation has developed a Reconciliation Action Plan. A lot of other corporates have done a similar thing.

Doesn't mean anyone gives a shit. It just makes the organisation look modern and progressive.

My first and only ownership. We pay $150k for him. He shows a lot of potential. As a 2yo has a record of 5 starts a win and 2 seconds.
3 weeks ago we received an offer to sell. $800k. We knocked it back. Idiots.

He tore a tendon yesterday. He is not worth $8 today.

Life is complicated and it's hard to appease everyone. So governments do their best, albeit sometimes belated. Most of the time they get it right and it reflects the sentiment of the majority.

But it doesn’t......

The way i see it (and ridiculously insensitive too) is that those who have a drive to get ahead do it. JT, Inglis etc. we’re never held back because of their race.

In the corporate world it is the same, i work (past and present) with exceptional indigenous people who wanted what they’re doing, i have also worked with not so exceptional indigenous people who just like lots of other people who hate what they’re doing.

Where we need to close the gap is NOT the big cities, it is the remote communities where racist bogans do treat them as second class citizens and tar them all with the same brush (rightly and wrongly depending on the case).

PouPou is right though, as a society in general we are streets ahead of pre 67 or whenever it was when the aboriginals were part of the flora and fauna act and treated as the lowest of the low.

Do we need to be chastised for the powers that be that came before us on a regular basis? Do we need to be blamed? History should be taught without a doubt so it never happens again but at the same time the wording should not be aimed at us, rather it should be that we are all the same, not more division.

This is where to do-gooders piss off so many people and drive the division further. Division creates racism........

I don’t have a solution but there has to be a better way......Trump is president while being one of the biggest racists on the planet and a large reason for that is the division society created by constantly telling us we’re all racist because of the actions of the past.......
