Australians are still okay with it. There's nothing funnier than taking the piss out of those less fortunate. It's just interesting that 'those less fortunate' are all off limits except for one group.

Absolutely, though it was taking the piss outta those attitudes, whilst not making them out to be bad people, quite the opposite. Which allowed people to see bits of that in their own lives and laugh at themselves.

Just wanted to point out this is literally the "conservative" version of "lefties" being offended by Apu from the Simpsons or whatever.
