It might seem strange from a non-believer's perspective but plenty of people take the treatment of pork products very seriously.

A word of advice...

Don't go on to a golf forum where a bunch of knobs are spending their time complaining about how their kids, family etc. mean that they don't play enough golf and say "you didn't have to procreate". They don't like it.

Plus I think they're American so they quite possibly shoot people who say that to their face...

Probably. If they did I imagine it would be packed with boring shit as most of the posters aren't particularly interesting or funny.

I only really read it to find out the latest gossip on new equipment before it is released. If I want to talk shit with people on a forum this is a much better option.
