Lot of ego in hospitality too, expansion means fitout, which can run into lots of dollars if you're trying to outdo the guy next door, that might work ok cashflow wise when you borrowed cheap, so again easy to get carried away, when your interest bill doubles though, can hit home pretty hard.

They were guilty of that. Four very nicely fitted out venues. They wouldn’t have sold anywhere near enough beer to fund all of that.

Even if interest rates hadn’t gone nuts the market is only so big.

A lot to be said for expanding slowly and organically or even just focusing more on making decent f**ken beer.

Has the craft beer phase become to popular? Seems like one popping up every week. Only so much people will pay for a beer as well.

Price isn’t the problem. There’s an oversupply and lowering the price won’t change the fact demand is limited by people passing out from overconsumption.
What has become too popular is every man and his dog thinking a brewery is an unique business idea.
