Massive issues that merkin. Same Mr Happy suggested that I put a bullet in my head in these pages and inferred numerous times that because I posted a gif with a kid in it, that I was a pedo.

I get that banter gets out of hand at times, especially when we lose, however outside of that we should all be mates. Well we all largely are. Let’s try and keep it that way.

I get that, but sometimes people cross a line that I personally find completely unacceptable. Then, I make a decision whether those people are the types that I want to associate or even converse with. That's just me.
Sometimes it goes beyond banter. I openly admit that I've been guilty of it myself in the past which is why I've tried to clean my act up over the years and start ignoring those who I think are genuine f**kwits.

I agree that generally this forum is very friendly. Grand Final day last year proved that, with a big meet up of forumites at various locations throughout the day and it was great to meet many new ones.
However, I reserve the right to and will ignore and not associate with those that I feel I don't have any affinity with, for one reason or another. Currently, that list is very, very small.

Righto... I can't ignore any longer and so I am going to address you directly/reply/react to anything you post for the first time in probably 5 months. I asked the question a while back how I could put a Mod on Ignore but apparently thats not possible and so.... That was the point I decided to cease any engagement with you.... until now.

For the good of the forum and for a lot of other poster's enjoyment, I believe you should have your Moderator access revoked or relinquish it, so that we, and there's a few of us who have communicated outside of this forum about this very subject, can put you on Ignore. If that happens I'm pretty sure most of us will simply put you on Ignore once you're not a Mod and it's going to cut out a lot of bullshit posts.... It's in everyone's interests.

Alternatively, let us put Mods on Ignore. Either or.

Rather than removing mod status for no good reason... maybe the forum architecture could be changed so that Adminstrators can't be ignored but Moderators can, and then anything that a Mod of a forum posts in their role could be an Announcement post (to which ignore rules somehow don't apply?).

It can't be too hard. Whatever it takes, I just want to be able to ignore Gronk, plain and simple.

Fair point.
I suppose because as mods, there might be comments that you need to be aware of that are more pertinent than just their opinions.
Yeah....... I'm a pretty cluey individual, emergency announcements on the LU forum probably aren't top of my list of important things to worry about in life and if I post in contravention of such an announcement then I'm happy to wear whatever punishment the LU overlords decree fair.... I just need to be able to ignore Gronk. You feel me?

It's quite likely Moderators wish they could ignore some of the member posts too, particularly in forums where they might not have a moderator role (but under the architecture carry the status across all the forums).

So don't agree to be a moderator FFS....

Not all mods are douchebags. Outside of the Parra forum, there's a few with a sense of humour and use words, not childish gifs, to enunciate their opinion....nice guy's. No ignoring required for them in my books....

I think being a Moderator is a thankless task - imagine having to read every single post every shitbag crazy mofo posts here, just in case they breach forum rules for libel etc?

If a Mod has broken any of the forum guidelines with their posts, then I'm sure the site owners would have discussions.

But if a couple of people have decided they just don't like a particular Mod having an opinion (that's different to theirs) and expressing it in the forum... then that to me is not anything at all to do with a person to agreeing (or remaining) to be a Moderator.

Hence the site architecture suggestion to maybe make the best of both worlds coexist - for posters and Mods.

I hear you and understand where you are coming from, but you are able to participate in this forum because you have agreed to the rules, regulations and conditions of the forum. Not being able to ignore a moderator is one of those conditions.
I don't get what you don't understand about that?
Just do what I do and don't "like" or reply to those people that annoy you so much. It's not hard.
It's easy to do without even having the ability to put them on ignore.

And no, I'm not going to feel you.

No.

There's a couple of other mods whose opinion and condescending comments I don't like but have come to accept as them just being them. I can wear them... The other bloke, I can't. And neither can many others.

So that acceptance of some mods and their differing opinions and online/deduced commenting personalities suggests it is possible to follow that same pathway (along might seem to you to be harder terrain) to a resolution?

Unless the site can tweak the architecture around ignoring in some way to accommodate personality differences - which may not be possible... As Suity has said, it's part of our agreement as members that we can't ignore moderators and vice versa.

I did exactly as you recommend in that first sentence for the last 5 months, but I still have to scroll through every freaking argument and BS gif that he posts because I can't "officially" ignore him. And it snowballs because I know there are at least 5 other poster's who unfortunately get dragged down to those childish exchanges with him and right there - Boom! 5 X the shit to scroll through to get to something worthwhile to read.

I appreciate that you are presenting an argument as a witness of fact and therefore are a better authority than me.

And i quite obviously don’t have the qualifications or experience to put myself forward as more knowledgeable than you.

Im offering my take on it:

But the account provided is that there’s this croc and he’s just being himself and he gets killed for it.

If he’d understood the consequences of bothering humans and then he made a conscious decision to ignore that and keep creeping about and scaring people, fine, you can attribute some kInd of malicious intent to him.

But because he poses an inconvenience to human leisure activity ( not even required for our own survival) they kill him.

I’m sure crocodiles can be captured and re-located, safely and kindly.

If the best your croc management people can do is conclude that it’s all to hard and resort to shooting a defenceless animal, to me thats a abomination.

Wildlife Officers who kill innocent native animals.

Pretty lame.

The kangaroo issue is different.
This is old from human standards but not from prehistoric crocodile standards.

Don't worry. I get it.
As you say, there are others who are just as bad, if not worse, who just post shite and it is painful scrolling through it all to eventually read something worthwhile.
If anything, the one criticism of LU that I have is that the mods don't keep a lid on the crap enough and edit/delete enough of the shite.
Other similar sites of interest to me that I read are really tough on off-topic stuff, and therefore, are a pleasure to read because I don't have to read shit post after shit post. They delete plenty of posts and constantly remind members to stay on topic. I've long wished that LU could do the same.

Thanks for posting it and I found it very interesting.

Crocs are beautiful and precious in their own way.

They play an important role in the ecosystem.

We had an almost infinite ability to accommodate and live with this creature and instead of this care and compassion, we f**king slaughtered it.
