I was listening to ABC Sydney on Friday who were at the show and it made me reminisce a bit. I never missed the Royal when I was little, mainly because my grandparents always had dogs to show. Loved the livestock (was always fascinated with how the country boys and girls would sleep in pods next to their expensive stock). LOVED the wood choping. LOVED the holden precision driving.

Haha every year my Dad woukd guilt me with the same “ in my day they were sample bags and they used to give the away. Now they are called show bags and charge you money for them ! Outrageous!”

Easter is a great time because of Bells Beach and the Masters at Augusta.

Not gunna lie, I haven’t golfed since before children (BC) but FMD I would again to play on such a handsome merkin course. Good that they let black fellas become members in 1990 and females in 2012.

Fun fact (as told to me). Details have been blurred so I don’t get sued….

My neighbour is a surgeon. He was born here, but his ethnicity is asian (ABC). For whatever reason his family tacks on an “E” to their surname. So for example an asian name of Chin might become Chine.

Anyway he golfs and one of his patients was a member of a super exclusive Sydney Golf Club in our area. So an introduction is made and he gets a call from some merkin inviting him to be a member. Cool he says, send me an email etc.

No, first you need to have a round with our Captain (I think that was the term). He’s available on Tuesdays at 2pm. Well, I operate on Tuesdays at a private hospital, so can we change it to Thursday or Friday ?

No.

Ok so I will arrange a Tuesday in 3 weeks time. Is that Ok ?

Yes, the Captain will look forward to play a round with you then.

So they have their round and then radio silence. He calls. He emails. Nothing. He calls the patient and asks WTF. Patient asks around and gets back to him and reports “I am really sorry Dr X, but it seems that that they are now saying that they have no openings for new members. But someone told me on the quiet that it was because you were asian. And looking around, we actually don’t have any asian members….”

So you you can file that under Ripley’s Believe it or Not.

Scheffler looked even more disinterested than normal today. He was getting a bit pissed about some of those close putts not dropping...

It's a great leaderboard already. Let's hope JDay and Scotty can maintain it. Day's form has been on the upward trajectory this year, looking good. Scott just needs to put 4 rounds together, his biggest issue is he plays 3 good rounds but cards a shitty round on a Saturday or Sunday and screws his chances

I reckon JDay will go on a tear soon. First time he is injury free in a while and when he gets his swing changes dialled in - watch out!

This bloke loses both of his ears in an accident. The surgeon tells him that there are no human transplant ears available but they have a dog's ear and a pig's ear ready to transplant, so he agrees to the operation. One month later, he goes back for a check up and the doc asks him how he is getting on with his new ears.
