not sure what you are saying .... that bug flour isn't real? that its good? that its not in use? ..... that f**ked check says nothing other than eating bugs is cool - if you wanna think that fine

reality is, they are producing food from bugs (chips, pasta, etc) ..... is it all perfectly well labelled? maybe? .... will it become more widespread? most likely ..... will it become an accepted ingredient when economically viable? I assume so

Protein flour from insects has been around for ages. You suggested that we start reading the ingredients panels because "They are starting to put bug flour in things around the world." suggests that you think we are being tricked.

Are we ?

Ok, here youse go. There's no source to back up her claim though. More research required.

While there’s still an ick-factor from some people about tucking into a cricket over a cow, Ms Blackburn said a lot of people were probably unknowingly already eating insects.

When products like health bars, breads or baking mixes as labelled as “high protein” that protein probably comes from edible insects.

Edible insects Zophobas morio (super mealworm), Achaeta domestica (house crickets), and Tenebrio molitor (mealworm beetle) • Non-traditional food • Not novel food Non-traditional in Australia and New Zealand. No safety concerns identified. Labelling of true nature of food required. Crickets: There is recent evidence to suggest there may be a risk of allergenicity in crustacean-allergic or other sensitive individuals when consuming crickets or foods derived from crickets3.

pg.16 suggests if we are eating crickets in Australia then we would know about it. i.e. the bird in the first article is wrong unless of course the food is manufactured o/s.

Note. Bored with the footy talk, needed to put my research skills to better use.
