I'm posting satire because I'm having some fun.

For the record, I am still 100% in on #pizzagate.

So, Gronk. Do you reckon that your (male) client would shake the hand of a female gentile in a business deal?

No idea.

Like "our" clergy, I reckon he'd expect most people to kiss his hand.

Anyway, he worked out pretty quickly that I did not revere him like those who worship with him might.

Cheers. Yeh, this is the (potential) side of it that I'm not comfortable with. I have little problem with a system under which both men and women are subject to the same restrictions.......even if I think the restrictions fly in the face of what society has learned over the last 3000 years. But when the traditional lores are applied to one gender and less strictly to the other, I call bullshit.

Some of you guys think way to much. Just relax a little. If its not one rule it will be another. Some people just like to have something to winge about. Pack of wingers

I'm going to go out on a limb here and take another tact.
I actually think the rule that the school in question has put into place is actually a great thing for this country.
I believe it reinforces this countries reputation as a place of tolerance and acceptance of all cultures and religions.
They are not forcing their male students to not shake hands with females. They have just given them the option to decide whether to do so or not.
Surely, it is up to each individual student to make that choice.
Some may choose to do so and some may not.
That may or may not be their belief and custom but this is the great thing about Australia. People are given the freedom of choice.
I think that those students that have been given this freedom of choice may very well become more welcoming and accepting citizens by being given this right.
We may not agree with this custom, and certainly, it flies in the face of our beliefs, but surely we as a free country do pride ourselves in the fact that we have a free and tolerant society accepting of all races, religions and cultures.

I for one am proud of this.

I can't remember shaking hands with girls at school in the first place. Not because of any religious beliefs or gender stereotype, more that they would probably think I was a weirdo.

Come to think of it, the lack of attention I received from the opposite sex suggests they though that anyway. Hmmm...Perhaps I should have shaken hands.

I think the context of the hand shaking was the boys getting some award presented by a female staff member ... not just shaking hands willy nilly .... hell i dont even remember shaking hands with my mates at school

Suity you're a nice man, I truly think you are and you have great intentions, however I think "nice" people like you have been exploited and nice countries like ours have been bent over and f**ked in the arse without lube. France is one example. They did the whole tolerance horse shit and now it has come to bite them back on the arse. They are also copping it in England and in tolerant Scandinavian countries like Sweden, Finland and Norway.

Islam don't like us. Research their koran and you will see for yourself. It is not a religion of peace. We will always be the infidel to them and if they could they would take over this country and every other in the blink of an eye because according to them it is Allah's anyway.

Maybe it won't happen in our life time but one day it will come to a bloody end and good intentioned people like yourself will realise that bigot Islamophobes like me were right all along.

f**k them. If they don't want to shake our hand no matter who is at the end of it they can get f**ked. Last time I checked this was still a Christian democratic country with our own values and expectations, no matter how ridiculously tolerant we have become.

These people cannot have it both ways. To me it seems to be only one way and I have had enough of it as have most people which is why Nationalism is on the rise in every Western Democratic country.

What u just posted was Australia 60 years ago with the Protestants and Catholics. They were wary of each other. Families would refuse to attend the homes of their religious foes or indeed marriage ceremonies of mixed couples.

Not sure if we saw the violence that the UK did, but apparently it was pretty ugly.

I think we will overcome this as well and our Muslim friends will integrate just like the "boat people" from when we were teenagers.

Of course the immigrants of our time the Greeks Italians and Yugos are now part of the bricks and motar as are the Vietnamese.

I thought Gronk's point was pretty clear.... That there is more than 1 subset of 1 religious group that encourage attitudes to women that most of us are uncomfortable with (and those attitudes do sometimes extend to domestic violence....see recent docos on Melbourne's Orthodox Jewish community). But one group is called out far more often than the other.
The voice of reason.

None of the people you mentioned are anything like them. Not even close. Let's go to any of their countries and ask for tolerance and refuse something that may offend them. See how far you get with your life.
