Yeh, that's basically the attraction of Foxtel for me. I have Netflix as well though (and an effective geo-dodging routine.....which I don't usually activate).

I used to use a vpn to get overseas Netflix, but they seem to have worked out how to stop that now.
How do you get around it?

How do you cast it to the tv?
Figured. I haven't had a PC in years and haven't got round to replacing the laptop that died about 6 months ago. Just been getting by with a phone and tablet, but no HDMI slot obviously. I suppose you could do it with an Android box?
Magic!
But seriously get a Google Chromecast if you don't have smart tv or don't want to connect computer. They're about 50 bucks I think and just plug into a hdmi port on tv. Follow instructions and you can teleport image on little screen to big screen. And not the shitty image quality you'd be expecting

My overseas VPN/DNS set up (Unblockus) just started working again. It stopped working for a while...dunno when they got the workaround sorted out. I don't use it much for Netflix, but you can use the BBC iPlayer etc., and when I'm overseas I can view games on the NRL website.

I know a few people who have an android box. It esentially gives you apps the same as my sony android smart tv does.

I noticed that some of the android boxes also run Kodi. Is Kodi some sort of peer to peer file sharing movie steaming priracy thing ?

I have a Samsung S7 phone and Samsung smart tv. Worked perfectly fine until the latest Samsung phone update then it got blocked. My wife's s6 didn't do the update and it works. Be careful with any add one like Chromecast though, do some research and make sure they actually work before buying it. I am fairly sure foxtel block HDMI output from laptop to a tv from working as well. Also think nrl digital pass blocks anything bigger that some screen size, can't remember but it's around typical monitor size

I have a sony tv that does some screen mirroring thing, but the foxtel go app detects it and says "no".

I have a chromecast on my other panasonic tv. But i have my foxtel box plugged into that so i guess i have never tried it.

Yeah I figured it would block and I guess it's supposed to given the latest Samsung software update, but the wife is getting a new phone this week so I'm using the old one while it works to stream it

Interestingly I am now on a notebook in the same room as my android tv. If I click on cast in Chrome, this website LeagueUnlimited pops up on my TV.

But if I go to NRL.com and do the same, you get nothing but a black screen. Merkins ! How dare they protect their $1B digital rights !

I just mucked around a bit on my tvs/chromecast and phone/tablet

If you have the screen sharing running, then start the foxtel go app it says no.

But if you start the foxtel go app, start watching a live show, then make it go to the background and turn on screen sharing, it actually then switches back to the foxtel app live tv puts it in fullscreen and plays it on the tv. However you cannot switch to another channel, its stuck in fullscreen. And the quality is a bit crap and audio sync is a bit off ... so basically its pretty shit

Yep, you can stream using Kodi, and according to what I've read and current legislation it is not illegal to do so - primarily because you are not "downloading" the content.

You can either buy a stand alone Android box (think they're around $60 on ebay) or install and configure on your PC or Mac. I've got it on my laptop and connect it to the TV via HDMI

I downloaded kodi for win 10 from kodi.com . It looks like a library for your media however under the hood you download exodus (?) app and that gives you access to movie streams.

I followed some dude on youtube in the setup and well it didn't work.

So i got the shits and uninstalled it.

Do a youtube search on step by step instructions for your OS of choice and you should be able to find some good videos to follow. That's the way I did it.

Yeah you need the Exodus Add-on and then you're sorted.... or not in Gronk's case!

I've installed on multiple machines and never had any issues... Stick with it @Gronk, the rewards are endless....

I have fox mainly for league, I couldn't stand watching games on a iPad etc!!

But I have cut back on channels and got Netflix. That's enough tv options for me and the family.

Don't know how you merkins have all that time to watch all the stuff on Netflix. I struggle to find time to watch a few episodes of a series each week.
