At the end of the day though what should matter is what we need to do to improve the overall safety of the MAJORITY of people.

Therefore the view of someone who thinks he needs a gun to make himself feel safe is important to understand but it shouldn't be a material issue when considering gun policy that affects the safety of EVERYONE.

Agreed. However from a practical point of view, plenty of Americans will actually become less safe if gun control is misapplied. And don’t forget there is already gun control policy in the States and this shit still slips through.

Obviously the intent is to further reduce incidents like this but we don’t know how much more frequent these things would be with more restrictive firearms legislation. Access to guns and legal access to guns are two very different things.
