Nobody said there’s nothing you can do. More armed citizens would have stopped him real quick. Either that or armed cops at any gathering of people. But who’s gong to pay for that?

As for discriminating against the mentally ill, why should they lose the right to self defence? This was an anti-Christian hate crime.
Usually so eloquent Gronk. It’s as if there’s a simple solution for everything that involves zero loss to yourself.

OK I will explain myself and the answer is two-fold:-

1. You don't really believe in what you posted and you are (yawn once again) throwing burley into the water to see if you get any bites, or
2. If you truly believe in what you posted then my wisdom is wasted on merkins with such ingrained irrationality.

Anyone who chases votes is not a leader. They are the ultimate follower.
Do you think Howard changed our gun laws to chase votes? I’d say he did it because it was going to be effective policy. If it ends up being popular among the masses, then that’s win-win.

If it was irrational then you would have a legitimate counter argument, like any other time you think you have the intellectual highground.

Of course when you don’t there’s always the moral highground to fall back on.

Howard was probably the last PM in Australia who was a leader. Of course that was pre social media. The world was a different place then.

Sorry, are we locking in 1 or 2 ?

No arguments here but it does prove it can be done if you have someone strong (and smart) enough in charge with the right intentions.

You’re the one avoiding the question. What does it matter whether or not I believe it. Many people obviously do.

So you won't admit to trolling or that you actually believe in what you post and now you are an advocate for merkins who might believe in what you posted ?

No I agree. But you need to stop thinking macro if you want to understand why people are resistant to this. For that one merkin who is threatened by a criminal with a gun and doesn’t have one of his own, he doesn’t give a f**k at that moment if the whole world is safer. You wouldn’t either.
Yeah, I get how old mate thinks. That's obvious to me. I am thinking both macro and micro.

At the end of the day though what should matter is what we need to do to improve the overall safety of the MAJORITY of people.

Therefore the view of someone who thinks he needs a gun to make himself feel safe is important to understand but it shouldn't be a material issue when considering gun policy that affects the safety of EVERYONE.

Defending unpopular points of view is trolling now? How convenient.

This is how Trump won.

No, defending other people's POV is fine when you fully disclose what you're doing. You on the other hand, go on fishing expeditions and make shit up on the fly.
