Going to be funny if ASADA and WADA announce tomorrow that they won't be appealing the decision... April 1st.... The April Fools in all of this will be the Sharks....

Any of you merkins get IQ3 ?

I've had my box for a week. Seems a bit glitchy with the remote not doing what it's told and menus appearing randomly during a program.

Thoughts ?

Yeah you have to surrender your old IQ2.

I actually kept mine and put it in the study.

I have no intention of getting one, as it doesn't have a component output...which I use for archiving stuff that I don't have time to watch for a few weeks (e.g. US College football games).

It seems the IQ3 is still in beta mode, despite 18 months of development. The same model has been released in the UK for a while (I think)...not sure how that turned out.

So, what's so good about IQ3 compared to the original IQ that I still have?
What features does it have to make me want to change?

Oh, and Gronk, did you have to pay extra per month for having 2 IQ's?

IQ3 has 1TB of storage and can record like 5 or 6 shows at once.

It is wifi compatible.

Any show you stumble across can be viewed from the beginning with a "start over" function.

The menu is pretty with DVD type covers for each program. It suggests shows based on your viewing habits and also lists what's trending.

The remote is blue tooth which means that you don't have to point it the box and it can transmit through a cupboard door. Which I am sure your interior designer will love.

I had a "standard" box in the study, so switching the IQ2 cost me $2.50 per week. I think if you want a second box in any room it only costs $5.00 per week anyway.

It might be buggy, but like most devices these days (like your TV or blu ray) they update themselves via their wifi connection. So soon it will update it's firmware I'm sure.

I still think it's worth it. There is a lot of media about it today (the bugs), but you have to look a bit deeper and see that the reporting is from organisations that have an interest in Stan, Netflix etc.

Cheers mate. So what's it worth extra a month?

Just curious, because we have to Foxtel outlets, but only one has IQ (ours). The kids room tv just has a standard box, and they get the shits when they can't record stuff there. I might give them the IQ we have and get the new one if it's worth it.

It doesn't cost anything. Other than the extra $2.50 per week to upgrade the standard box to IQ2.

There is a one off cost of like $120 if you self install. So they courier the box out. You hook it up (easy) and then you plonk a postage paid sticker on the box and return the old one.

I think the kids will be happy with a decision I'm about to make. :)

I like the extra storage capacity. I'm continually having to delete stuff that I would like to keep for longer.

I'll be calling Foxtel soon.

You'll still run out of space Suity :)

You don't get access to all of the 1TB drive, as they use it for various nefarious purposes.

I transfer stuff from my IQ2 to my Topfield 2460 which records from component input....just play the files overnight.

Probably best to give Foxtel a couple of weeks to update the firmware on their IQ3s:

Updates are done remotely. So delaying the arrival of the box won't change anything. When the firmware update is available the box will deal with it overnight.

Yeh, except for the fact that they have machines with two levels of firmware hitting the consumers at the same......and the boxes with the old firmware have not thus far updated.

I'd hasten slowly.

In general these things contain an implicit early adopter tax. Just my experience anyway.

I am never ever getting glass balustrading in a house again. There is nothing that shits me more than cleaning it over and over again. Before anyone says anything, No I don't have my own cleaners. My wife and I do it ourselves.

My mate has these guys do his lawns. I'm a tight arse for that too. Would rather do it myself and have a nice lunch out.

Mate, please don't bag glass. You'll send me broke.
Use a product called Enduroshield.
