Non Penrith games

Melbourne are still clear favorites, but the comp has become more of a four-horse race than I expected. Everyone is assuming that we can dominate based on our defence and ignore the fact that Storm have only conceded six more points than us, and many of those points were in garbage time after they clocked off.

I wouldn't be too smug. In the post Origin period we are the 4th best team on form - and if the Roosters hadn't had a decimated roster - we'd be 5th.

The only silver lining in that is that South and Manly are pretty much peaking right now whilst we have a couple of gears to climb.
Well said, 100% spot on.

Uhhhh my point was that our wins without Nathan were not that impressive really. None of the wins were over full strength or good teams and we were only really marginally better and/or lucky in those games.

Because Nathan makes an absolutely massive difference to our attacking structure and how dangerous we are. Even though Dragons suck also, Cleary made a huge difference on his own even without Koroisau, JFH, To'o, Capewell etc.

He single handedly makes more difference than any player in the competition aside from Turbo.

I could never understand us hiring Barrett a second time. Iirc, our juniors flopped under him as a coach. They bounced pretty well straight back after he was replaced. His stint at Manly and now at the Dogs is testament to his abilities (or lack thereof). I think that he was only hired by the dogs due to his links to our playing roster. I am pretty sure that after raiding our players, no other NRL club will hire him. I think his doggies coaching contract will be his last. Good riddance to him.

I agree. The only player, that we wanted to keep, was Burton.

Knights v gummy sharks
After watching a few games this weekend I can say we are blessed to have Cleary .the last tackle option by a few of the other team play makers has been bad .This game even with the knights having Pearce it’s bad

Our best 17 is easily a match for Melbourne. Post Origin form is irrelevant in that respect. We've had loads out literally every game for the last two months.

The question is whether we get that 17 on the park again, but if we do itll be anyone's grand final.

Also, I could easily see Parra going out in w1 even against one of the ordinary sides in that 7-12 range. They're woeful atm.

UPDATE: Fifita reportedly placed in induced coma

All the best to Andrew Fifita for a speedy recovery.

NRL Rd 20 - Sharks v Raiders
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - SEPTEMBER 26: Andrew Fifita of the Sharks is tackled during the round 20 NRL match between the Cronulla Sharks and the Canberra Raiders at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium on September 26, 2020 in Sydney, Australia. (Photo by Mark Kolbe/Getty Images)

Cronulla Sharks' prop Andrew Fifita was taken to hospital with a throat injury following the club's narrow loss to the Newcastle Knights. Reports on Monday afternoon suggest Fifita has been placed into an induced coma.
A Sharks statement said the incident occurred early in the second half of the game, with Fifita then having problems swallowing and breathing after the game.
The concern was for a fractured larynx, although the Sharks didn't speculate in their statement.

Reports now suggest Fifita has been placed in an induced coma in an attempt to allow him to recover.

The enforcer, who has been used mainly off the bench throughout the 2021 NRL season, played just 13 minutes in the game against Newcastle, being collected by contact to the throat.
While the Sharks' statement mentioned the incident occurred early in the second half, Fifita had been left on the ground after a tackle at the end of the first half. He was taken from the field with a HIA, which he passed, before returning to the field for a five-minute window in the second half, but taking no further part in the game.
It's understood the Cronulla enforcer was taken back onto the field post match to be assessed by paramedics before being taken to hospital.
The Sharks' statement read:
"The Sharks can confirm that Andrew Fifita suffered an injury to his throat, following an incident early in the second half of today's match against Newcastle," the statement read.
"After the match Andrew reported difficulty swallowing. He was also noted to have a hoarse voice at this time and his care was escalated to the paramedics with a suspected laryngeal injury.
"He was taken via ambulance to hospital, where a significant laryngeal injury was confirmed.
"Andrew remains in hospital, where he is receiving the best possible care.
"The Sharks will provide further updates when they become available."
Cronulla's loss leaves them two points out of the top eight and with their finals hopes dangling by a thread, with matches against the Tigers (Rockhampton), Broncos (Brisbane) and Storm (Gold Coast) to finish the season.

Hope some of u are watching Storm v titans. Addo car just got trampled over to let in a try. Shows that even the best wingers aren’t outstanding defenders. We shouldn’t be reading too much into staines missing one tackle on a winger much bigger and taller than him
