In NQ, the non-QLD team that has the most support would be either St George or Melbourne (mostly up further around Innisfail thanks to Billy Slater).

The Dragons are rightfully number 1 as has been pointed out but Parramatta's follwing up north seems to be underestimated.

It may be the way draw has been strucutured in that the Eels haven't seemed to have played at Suncorp very frequently of late. They have the Broncos in round 1, 2012 and I would be very suprised if there was much of a difference in terms of crowd figures between to what the local derby normally draws.

Should be heaps of Parra fans there for round 1, since it is a Parra home game.

The dragons have a lot of older generation fans up north and the storm seem to have a lot of young kids due to slater, smith etc. The games i have gone to up in the gold cost i have been amazed at the amount of Roosters supporters at the games and in the area. Many people have moved from Sydney to the gold Coast due to the better way of living due to the financial cost of trying to live in sydney

Didnt the St George glory years correspond with the first wireless broadcast of the SRL to Queensland? Dont know if it can be put down to a migration pattern
St. George also conducted playing tours of Queensland towns during those glory years, which built a big following in the state. They first played against a Warwick District rep side in 1952, and returned regularly throughout that golden run in the 50's and 60's.

The impression I get is Dragons/NZ.

If anyone could pull some stats on Broncos v non-QLD teams attendance, that'd be awesome.

Dragons by a long way, but I'd say Canterbury, NZ and Storm all enjoy strong support up there.

Raiders used to be as well when they were full of Qlders but not so much these days.

Surprisingly I know a handful of older Vics who are or were Raiders fans. Dunno how that happened exactly. Guess they were the closest non NSW team before the Storm + they were a successful side.

Especially in the Eastern Suburbs

Much of Easts traditional supporter base has been spread to the corners of the country due to house prices in the East with some relocating to QLD, others to the Central Coast and others to places such as Penrith.

For Easts to survive long term and still get people to their games they need to appeal to a different market. ie a wealthier one or one with a much higher ethnicity base such as Asians who reside in the Inner suburbs such as Pyrmont and Haymarket etc.

It's a little known fact that everyone in Queensland is sectretly a LOL@50uff$ supporter. We're just waiting for them to once more be a Premiership force before shedding our cover as fans of other teams.

This past 1 year, our supporter base has become increasingly visible on the Central coast IMO. Time to relocate and save me a drive to the SFS haha. ;-)

I don't know if the club has made an effort to attract Asians to the club, but i have noted a quite a few at home games who seem to be rusted on fans. The more the better.

What sort of presence to Souths have in Qld? They rarely seem to get a mention with the Dragons and Warriors seemingly the biggest? Would think they would have quite a large number of supporters across Qld.

I think for the most part the people living in QLD who support a non QLD team are blow ins from other states. Of course there'll be a few QLDers who supported a team in the Brisbane Comp and a team in the Sydney comp so they chose to continue to stick with their team when they merged (if thats what you want to call it!).

I grew up supporting Souths in Brisbane and Cronulla in Sydney but as soon as a QLD team came in I switched to the Broncos. Then when my hometown got its own team (the cowboys) I switched to them.

Wouldn't it be great if those sides played twice in Brisbane each year to tap into that support along with other popular teams in Brisbane like the Raiders and Cowboys?

You always get your fair share of guys who if they lived in the South Pole would support the North Pole in sport to.
