Northern Eagles. Central Coast. Gosford

Exactly.

The Cowboys made 3 preliminary finals in 4 years.

Raiders made 3 in 5 years.

I would have to check Newcastle but I’m pretty sure they made a few in a short period of time in the early 2000’s as well.

That is without saying that 2 of the 3 have been financially secure for the majority of their existence and all 3 have fairly strong supporter bases; Newcastle and the Cowboys in particular.

The only regional club that has really struggled is the Gold Coast and even then I’m pretty confident that if they get some success their support will grow.

To further to c*** on his argument there are a few ‘metro’ clubs that have struggled both on and off the field.
The Raiders and Knights have played in a fair few preliminary finals over the last 20 years. They've certainly performed better than the Gold Coast Suns.

Titans have also played in a preliminary final. For a club that's had little on field success, their crowds aren't too bad. The irony is a Perth-based team will probably be no bigger than the Titans. The odds of a Perth-based team being resourced as well as the Broncos and Storm are low.

Alas manly have shown no Interest, an 8-4 split would serve them and the area well.

As mentioned earlier Manly may be closest ‘as the crow flies’ but it’s not exactly a quick drive or a few train stops between the 2. If we’re going stadium to stadium Parramatta is the closest team by travel time.

Although if any team adopts the CC as a second home for 3-4 it probably it isn’t going to be Parra. Sharks or Tigers could take some games there just as easily as Manly, none of those are drawing massive crowds or corporates in their home stadiums. Any other Sydney club is unlikely for any more than 1 game a year.

Yeh it’s less about geography, kogorah and Wollongong are hardly close! it’s about taking one of the games smallest clubs and opening it up to more fans whilst at same time servicing a rl area with a decent stadium that’s never going to a team of its own. From all accounts most fans in Gosford go for a club already and go to games there if their club is playing. Hence the big variation in crowd numbers over the years, some nrl clubs have more fans there than others. If manly were smart they’d take those games there.

If someone had the sense and money just to move the Tigers to CC and leave the area for Penrith, Parramatta and Bulldogs to grow.

Yeah, but a cross-city move isn't the same as a relocation that takes a team out of Greater Sydney & into a regional market (or even to another metro that's unrepresented).
Campbelltown was considered as much as outside of Sydney in 1982, as the Central Coast is today.

An STD call (like Penrith) and driving through a rural landscape once you left Casula

Central coast. Gosford. Most definitely needs more NRL matches played There
It's a rugby league Heartland
Looking at the stadium layout and its surroundings it would appear that the ground is boxed in by a rail line, main road and some sort of sports complex which would surely cap its capacity at around 20k.

While the CC facilities are pretty good, the region as a whole is nowhere near as important in terms of potential for the NRL as the North Shore. The North Shore needs fixing and a solution found.

Can both not be serviced ?
They can, but the North Shore and Central Coast tend to get conflated and spoken about as if they should both be serviced as one, mainly thanks to the Bears’ idea of relocating there and holding onto the North Shore as still being part of their territory.

The North Shore is far better off being serviced by existing Sydney NRL teams, rather than trying some Frankenstein arrangement where it’s bundled with the Central Coast.

From what I gather the best two candidates for servicing/administering the Noeth Shore (if it was to be under the wing of an existing NRL club) are Manly & the Roosters.

Given the baked-in dislike of Manly, I imagine the Roosters would be the easier sell.

Roosters should replace the blue in their colour scheme with black.
