I think its good news TC because last week Cronk was named for both, and McFadden wasn't named anywhere.

the short answer - 24 all draw

the long answer - i got there after 10 minutes and it was 4 nil to the tigers who had the breeze in the first half. for the next 30 minutes it was all norths in every category except for the scoreboard with easts scoring 2 tries against the run of play and taking a 16-4 lead to half-time if i'm not mistaken.

the second half was again all norths as they led 24-16 with around 10-15 minutes to go when a ludicrous call from the ref turned the game! one of the norths players was penalised and sin-binned for tackling a support player before he received the pass during one of the rare 2nd half breaks for easts.

to say it was a harsh call was an understatement in both the ruling (it was line ball at best and all people around me, mostly easts fans, thought it shouldnt have been a penalty) and the sentence (it wasnt stopping a certain try even if the ruling was correct).

anyway, easts went on to score 2 tries and luckily missed both conversions from relatively easy positions (although into the breeze) to tie it at 24 all with about 5 to go. another dusty call went easts way with 2 minutes to go resulting in a penalty to easts in definite kicking range, but fortunately the kick was missed again!

so in the end, norths ended up being lucky to escape with a draw even though they should have shat it in with a heavily depleted team. the only storm players i noticed were mcfadden and marty turner, which would indicate mcfadden's not playing tomorrow. however, tanielu and webster were named for norths but i couldnt see either of them playing.

best for the devils was andrew hamilton with quentin laulu-togagae looking more like NRL standard each time i see him play.

Far out we've got some good backs then.

Billy Slater, Dustin Cooper, Steve Turner, Matt Geyer, Steve Bell, Ben MacDougall, Matt King, Jake Webster & Quentien L-T.

I am so happy that McFadden played for Norths though :D :D :D . And Cooper Cronk where is he? Not named anywhere.

He is in the "squad"

With McFadden not playing i'd expect either Cronk or Jeremy Smith to come onto the bench.

Last I saw Marty Turner, he looks a bit small, maybe just a bit larger than preston campbell and having him as hooker is a bit of a surprise. I noticed for the last several weeks that Marc Brentnall is always on the bench. He's a halfback, what's he doing there? Oh and Nathan Turner's got nothing to do with Glen and Marty does he? Somehow I got the feeling it may actually be Nathan Friend coming back from injury.

I've never heard of him either, but then again I'm not to familar with the majority of the Reserve grade Norths players.

If he is infact a a Turner, that makes Glen Turner, Marty Turner, Steve Turner and Nathan Turner.

Imagine if they were all playing in the same team at the same time

We had a case of three Matts in one game. Orford, Rua, and Geyer before Matt King came down and took Rua's place among the Melbourne Matt's  We also have now Jeremy and Cameron Smith

I could've sworn I saw Tanielu train with the Storm just before the game today. Might be Tony Kaufusi though.

Tanielu was definitely at OP today, he was wearing the number 21. When they were training I noticed him and Kirk Reynoldson out there and was trying to work out who was left out of the side. 18 players were listed for the team, but only players from that list that I couldn't see out warming up was Dustin Cooper and Glen Turner, but that still left 18. Had me confused I can assure you.

Thunderstruck, 18 players listed for Storm during the week. Add Reynoldson and Robert Tanielu makes 20. Less Dustin Cooper and Glen Turner left 18 players.

18 players warming up on the field when I was expecting 17. I was trying to work out who else besides Cooper and Turner were out. As it turned out it was Tanielu, even though he was wearing number 21 and warmed up with the Storm.
