good to see Mick Harper made the starting squad

I actually think he's likely to finish the year with the storm

Poor scheduling to see these Round 0 matches again.

Norths trial form doesn't look good on paper but anyone that has seen them live this year will know that they are an improved team. Parramatta should be too strong for them this week though.

Improved maybe, but then again maybe not. Heremaia is honest, but pedestrian compared to Black. Good on Anthony getting the (c). He's a dangerous runner, but he's got big defensive problems. The reason most of these guys are at the Bears is because they couldn't get a run anywhere else. They'll put in the effort, but they're raging hot favourites for the spoon.

Its do or die time. This squad is handpicked by Gary Freeman, with only a few from last years PL team. John Russell is the only player from last years very good Flegg side, with some very fine players cast aside.

Is this game for competition points?

The new squad on the website shows that the kept 3 of the 4 from Cabra and all 4 from Asquith but what happened with Willie Bishop?

what happened with Willie Bishop?

I was wondering that myself. Big fall from all the hype that surrounded the Roosters signing him.

and yep it's for points alright.

I am sure the Bears scored 6 tries and converted 2. Harper and Davui played well.

Maggies beat the Bears Flegg side 14-8 in todays trial. 0-0 at half time. Not the most inspiring footy but good defence mostly.

Good stuff. Excellent win for the bears. I dont think they will be as weak as some think but only time will tell.

congrats to the bears - I said after our trial they wont be easybeats this year

Freeman has been flogging them at training and while I don't think they'll be premiership contenders they'll give a few teams a shock this year.

Its always good to see Parramatta lose :D
