If he dosn't want to play for the club it would be in the best interest to let him go but the Eels have not done this as Lyon has requested so I wouldn't say Lyon's is dictating terms.

Sure now they are bending on the issue but that is smart considering that he still is a contracted played and because of this he still is eating up a part of your salary cap (even if you don't pay him anything - because he is still contracted for x amount the club still has that x amount taken out of the cap that they cannot spend for next year or the year after so it would be wise to finally release him)

Given that the Eels decide on which club he would be aloud to talk to I would say that the Eels are dictating terms and not Lyon

Sure Lyon hasn't agreed to his part of the contract but this happens on a regular basis and thats why players are released on a regular basis apart from so called salary cap issues

There have been many occassions that clubs have released players because of a request.
Manly have released these players after they signed a contract(something which you guys holding lyon to) - Zinzan Brooke(spelling), Trent Barrett, cant remember the other names?, the point being the player doesnt want to play for the club so why force them to, it's not like they are going to be interested in playing good footy?
