It's all meaningless unless we know what the 14 people in Snowtown and Coober Pedy are watching.

Looking at the numbers at the 5 cities does not match up with the actual populations.
I have followed cites population by the ABS. For example Sydney went past 5 million recently. Melbourne contrary to boosters is always 400k behind. Also the central coast is included in the ABS figures but Newcatle is not. As Geelong is not included in Melbourne. Also Adelaide population is 1.3 million according to ABS
http://www.censusdata.abs.gov.au/census_services/getproduct/census/2016/quickstat/3GBRI?opendocument
http://www.oztam.com.au/TheOzTAMPanel.aspx
Sydney 2016 4.8 million 1475 Households
Melbourne 4.4 ml 1475 Households
Brisbane 2.2 ml 1000 H/holds Note coverage maps include GOLD/c 500k and Sun/c 350k
Perth 1.9 ml 650 Households
Adelaide 1.3 ml 650 Households
So Adelaide is over represented by (maybe someone could do the math?) by 20 to 30 percent.
Also Sydney in UNDER represented in raw numbers (by 15%) AND they could include say either Illawarra/Wollongong or Newcastle as Melbourne adds Geelong on the coverage map. So the rating are geared against Nine and NRL by over representation OF Adelaide and Under representation of Sydney. Brisbane which includes in it's coverage map the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast looks lite with a thousand also. This further disadvantages the NRL.
Most of the AFL wins are on the back of fraudulent numbers from Adelaide and over representation of Melbourne. Combine this with a big increase in NRL national ratings if say Newcastle was included. /or Wollongong / Illawarra

Greater Perth Metro population is around 2.1million

Adelaide includes a large swathe of SA regionals - SA also doesnt have regionals reported.
It's just not cricket. Perth and Adelaide have the same (650 panels) even when Perth has over two million population and all of South Australia has only 1.7 million so some adjustment is necessary (or it's like I said, a southern Australasian con) moving on, Why does the Melbourne panel include Geelong? Also even if you include Geelong you come up 200k short BUT the have the same panels numbers at 1475 as Sydney. IF Sydney Included League mad Greater Newcastle ie Incl Lake Macquarie, 500 k (the NRL would win handily)
Yes Brisbane is in reality SEQ BUT they have been called and labelled that for years. If the new laws pass something better, somthing may come of this highly ill regular and fraudulent practice against NRL>

Gee they must be tripping over themselves in Oodnadatta,Ceduna and Streaky Bay. to watch the singletted ones.
Fair crack of the whip, the number of people in regional SA,would be lucky to fill a whale watching boat with Sarah Hansen Young & co on board.
Must be including the white pointers that hover around the coast.

and last night Melbourne had 14 of the top 20 and quite a few of those wins are by big margins http://tvtonight.com.au/2017/08/wednesday-23-august-2017.html

Sydney's 6 wins aren't by much at all in comparison

Well yes. I have pointed out that Melbourne has equal number of 'panels' to Sydney when the population within these panels are not equal, go figure. Also of note is the inclusion of Geelong, how f**king convenient.
Looking at ratings Adelaide has been posting record numbers like a city of 3 to 4 million.. But their panel size is too big, again go figure. Our western cousins (i had a job talking all day to 'gropers') and their are bat shit ignorant of RL

I am not worried about this. 2022 negotiations, what kind of market we will have ? Eonomic/business conditions will dictate what happens. Maybe people wander the inner city selling rabbits out of blood stained duffle bag, who knows?
Roy's comparing UK to Ossie is not valid as Government TV (BBC) rules the UK market and they don't make big bids for sports programming.. Also the NRL can sell to TV (other than Ten) OR make News LTD break up their bid ie Ten and Foxtel OR let them have it all with no restrictions (except internet) they pay ridiculous amount ie & 5 Billion. As a media expert said Pay TV loses when they have shit low value entertainment. People wont buy and they loose adverting revenue ( double whammy) also they can't compete with free (on cost ) TV, who can downgrade to low cost programming ( see Ten now). I do hope they remove the reach rule but maybe now keep the 2 out of 3 rule. The reach rule will open up state wide ratings which will favour the Nrl as we have 55% of the population in two states +capital

I don't think it is worth worrying about yet because the way we are watching TV is changing so rapidly there may be options open to the NRL in 2022 that don't even exist yet. Ideally it's a mixture of free-to-air, pay TV and a streaming service that offers a paid (ad free) and free (but with ads) options. Either way I think you will find that they will find a way to increase the broadcasting revenue.

Once the new stadia are built in Parra, Homebush and Townsville and control of the scheduling returns, the game should have a boost in revenue from other areas.

Ratings would improve with the bunker axed!

Is it mathematically possible for Melbourne to have more than Sydney in each of the 20 top show (sometimes by large amounts) while both having the same panels numbers ie 1475?
Just another con. You would think channel Nine would be all over this....crickets.....

Offering 1 or 2 free games on the subscription to spruik the 8 game package would be huge for the platform...
