Bahahahah, 90k. f**king rubbish sport.

I went to the Reds/Highlanders game a few weeks ago and it was atrocious viewing, I can see why it’s behind croquet and tiddlywinks in this country.

Great result for league life, well done ladies!

Any break down of state by state origin audiences?

haven't seen any yet. i can't remember where i read it last night but another article said:
- it was the third highest rating sports event in melbourne this year behind 2 afl games
- highest rating in sydney and brisbane
- highest rating event overall in australia so far this year.

@Perth Red the breakdowns are always on TV Tonight's website each morning. Melbourne got 366k.

It was the fifth highest rating sports event on Melbourne TV this year. In front of it were:

- Aus Open Mens Final
- Aus Open Womens Final
- AFL opener
- AFL ANZAC Day.

Pretty impressive stuff. Also shows the benefit of opening up the game to new audiences, we wouldn't get ratings like that in Melbourne without the storm.

i see it the opposite way. origins were being taken to melbourne before the storm came about. thus they grew the market there via origin. with games in perth and adelaide coming up, hopefully that continues over the years, more club games are taken there, then eventually a club is installed in those cities once the appetite is there.

Pretending Origin is the only vehicle we have to sell the game to foreigners (read: interstaters) is a bit one-dimensional IMO. 39k at the double header in March for Perth for example, had nothing to do with Origin. Souths and Manly in particular do hard yards in those areas given their footprints. Clubs like Canterbury and the Roosters have continued groundwork in Adelaide for the last 10-15 years and deserve credit there too.

Subsequently I think the Storm deserve plenty of credit for the increased profile of RL in Melbourne.
