Sources say our first offer to Mahoney was 450k, obviously we didn’t rate him that highly or we just thought he’d happily re-sign whatever we offered him.

As pointed out by Gronk , with apparently no decent rakes available on the horizon. We initially offer Reed a 2 years at 900k, well before he could test the market. My understanding we had no desire to move on that.

I think we ended up offering at 600k-650k x 3 years in desperation , but Dogs went up a good notch up from there. At this point was getting silly and understand why we didn’t keep playing ball.

Point being , Do we nail Reed at 550k-600k for 4 years? Before he can talk to other clubs? (he wanted a longer term mainly) - Considering Lussick signed with super league and no decent rakes available , just amateur hour by our recruitment. We don’t always get it right and this one was dropping the ball from a high cliff.

I called it last year he was injury prone and well past it, then he does his knee again.

And I agree with Guts Gutho was the most replaceable out of our spine and as soon as he and his manager wanted to play silly buggers again I would of made him take or leave our offer. It was more than fair.

I think some are over rating Mahoney. M.Keating also had one great year. Lets rate Mahoney end of this season caus ehis first 5 games have just been average tbh.

Look at Korisau, Cook, Grant. Those guys have been tearing up sides. Mahoneys run games well non existent, had zero LBAS or TAs and missed the 2nd most tackles of any hooker so far this season.

I THINK Bailey from Sharks is better tbh. But only the 3 guys above are worth over 650k. I reckon Mahoney is above the rest of the pack but still a way off the top 3 guys.

People may say Grants over rated but I don't think so. He can rip a game apart on his own.
