Yep, that's pretty much it.
Nine did so well with Sterlo, it was hard for anyone to be as good as him. Plenty have tried. All have failed.
How Fox thinks that the likes of Alexander, Ennis, Parker, Roach are at all enjoyable to listen to, I have no idea. The one bloke they had who I thought was pretty good was Gasnier, but they got rid of him for some reason.
Even the lead commentators aren't much chop. Mat Thompson is no Ray Warren, Dan Ginnane is painful to listen to, Warren Smith and Vossy get too caught up with little bullshit things happening within the game and go on about them for half an hour after it's happened (Voss mainly).
100%. Those days with Rabs, Sterlo and Fatty can never be the same.
As for Fox, you're correct, I think Alexander was ok years ago but gets things wrong on occasions, Blocker is too slow to keep up with whats happening and Ennis seems like he's a Gould or Fatty, laughing every 5 minutes and trying to talk over the top of caller and get overhyped " OH GREAT RUN".
Gasnier I believe took on the role with the NRLW or a pathways, something similar, not sure if he's still involved with it. Flanno was probably better to listen to than the above mentioned but he wont be there next year. I think Tate is a good commentator but you only hear him for Cowboys home matches.
I thought I was the only one that noticed it with regards to Voss, say a supposed knock on or forward pass he wouldnt move on from it talk about it for 5 minutes and not move on.
I like some of the commentary on ABC and there's one bloke I heard on there Dene Halatau, I think he speaks well and doesnt get over-excited.
