Interesting the last question in Ask Kent regarding Sterlo coming to the eels next year.

kent said a sneaky call came through to parra about it recently and was given an emphatic no.
Vonny said she had heard the same.

so I take from that Sterlo had an interest in getting involved, and he’s been told to piss off

yeah I thought they said that too ..... but I was wondering if I heard it wrong and that the call went to pete and he said no

tbh, I think pete is great ... of all our 80s legends who have had some public profile, he is the one who holds his head highest - a few others I loved as players but regularly make dicks of themselves ...... that said I don't know if Sterlo has that much to offer in the coaching ranks ???

Agree. He's an absolute legend of the game and has shown incredible professionalism during his TV career, but I can't see him adding much value.

I also can't imagine him being interested in doing it.

I thought Paul Kent made a very valid point when he said that Parra should possibly let Gutherson go and go for an all out superstar like Tedesco, Papenhuysen in 2023. He also thinks Dylan Brown is a potential superstar. I also would rather lose Gutherson than Dylan Brown especially if he thinks he’s worth close to $1m.

What we should have done is go for Nico Hynes. Much more upside than many players and a bargain at $600k.

Merkins worried about adding coaches, the people who make clubs competitive are the Paul Bunns and Peter O'Sullivans. They are in short supply, which is why I've pluralised them here.

I reckon Hynes is good but overrated. Like Gutherson. Papenhuyzen is no better, but at least he offers something we lack.

I also think Drown is a potential superstar. But if we want to unlock his running game he needs more and better opportunities to run. Fullback is the place for that.
