Not even close. The talent level is incredibly close between both teams at the moment. When Meninga was coaching QLD were streets ahead on paper. There isnt a single QLD player right now that will be an immortal. Meninga coached at least 5 players that are in contention.

Exactly. Arthur's isn't a supercoach and neither is Billy Slater. They have both shown they can do their job to the required standard but that's all. You won't catch me putting shit on them. Or unduly praising them.

That would be why Meninga's record was so much better than Slater's. At the moment Slater has only coached four games (for three wins, but more importantly, a minus eight points differential). It's about as relevant as Arthur's record in his first four games this year, or his most recent four.

I get Joey’s POV. Matty is a bandwagon commentator (sorry @Bandwagon I mean no harm). Matty jumps on a winner and praises and breaks down whatever is good about the merkin who is on top of his game. For that he’s earned the tag of a brilliant strategist.

So applying that style of commentary to Slater comes natural to him, because he gets praised for it. Joey is like ~ dude you’re a NSWelshman, brother of NSW assistant coach, can you for once STFU and not undermine us ? This time to his face, he threw his bro under the bus live on air. I’d be pissed off too.

Agree though, they deserve each other.

BTW, watching reggies on Saturday, I can confirm that Cooper Johns is a hands-thighs-gee-I’ve-been-working-so-hard-coach-but-really-just-watching-the-halfback-do-everything-wanker.

Coaches forget to coach all the time. Todd Payten was fantastic last year, but has forgotten to coach this year. Maybe Payten will remember too coach again next year.

Matty is also friends with Billy during his time at Melbourne as halves consultant.

I have always thought Matty is jealous of Joey's achievements hence why he always throws him shit.

But you also have Joey who hates the spotlight/attention yet works in the media.

Never go up and to talk to Joey if you see him in the public as he will completely brush you. I remember when i was in the field club a few years ago he would be the only commentator to not engage with the fans down there.

Even Freddy would give more of his time whenever he was available.

Probably not the coach forgot how to coach but the players are not listening to him and think they know what's best.

Did not coach against the drag queens and let the players lead, and we lose and the players get a mental check. Then coaches and smash the drags the following week in the finals
