The kid signed because he was being forced out due to the cap and it was obvious he did not want to go. The ball is in his court really now. Still contracted for next year with the Tigers and signed with St George. The St George contract is null and void if he simply states and confirms he never got the release but signed because he was not sure he had a position due to the cap.

St George handled it poorly and showed no class announcing it and will come back to haunt them.

Its not that simple. If he states that he was never granted a release from the Tigers, but made representations to the Dragons that he did have a release which he and his manager have previously stated in the media. Then he is liable to damages to the Dragons and has committed fraud.

Because waiting 12 weeks after the signing and waiting until your halfback bashes his missus in a drunken stupor before saying there was never a formal release is much more classy...

The dragons announced the signing on a Friday and our CEO informed Humphries that he was going to make the release to which he didn't reply.

It was handled poorly by all parties and Moltzen with his agent misrepresented themselves to our club. This will get ugly I think.

Committed fraud? To dishonestly gain financial advantage by deception?

No, son, he has not committed fraud.

He (along with his manager) has perhaps made a serious misrepresentation, the basis of which could make his contract with St George void ab initio, and leave him liable to pay them damages.

But he has committed no crime.

Let's be clear on that, shall we?

Exactly. If he genuinely thought he had a release and he told them he had one, it cannot be fraud. It's st georges fault. They knew they couldn't register the contract.

How is it st georges fault?

Why not his managers for not following due process?

Why not tigers for deliberately "sitting on it" knowing full well it would be an issue at the end of the year?

Why not the NRL for not making a phone call asking where the new contract was?

The manner in which the announcement was made by the Dragons before any release was granted was raised by our CEO.

I am unsure as to whether a complaint was lodged with the NRL about the way the matter was handled at the time. It appears the issue my have been held over until the end of the season.

R2coupe how is that even acceptable to you as an excuse? i remember humphries having his whinge and our CEOs response. Moltzen came out later and said he was glad the issue was resolved. fast forward a few months and due to your scumbag halfback doing an an alleged ivan drago your club decided now it wants one of It's sacraficial lambs back, f**king both clubs in an issue that was thought dealt with. Disgraceful

Football is now a business and the decision to announce his signing prior to a release did not cause Doust any concern. It did our CEO. As I said, this may have been held over until the end of the season to avoid more bad NRL publicity.

We had other issues at the time, we did not need more, Im sure Humpty wanted to sit tight in the hope sheens could get the team back on track...we were coming off 2 losses and a bye, we then lost the Parra gam,e the day of the announcement, sheens got the shits with a media bloke at the presser, they closed ranks after that...we then started winning with zipped lips

The fact that both clubs are f**ked until it gets sorted perhaps? Both clubs and player have been f**ked around by your CEO and no one knows what's going on. Pathetic

Or... both clubs have been done over by a player and his manager.

Tell me - as a contracted player with permission to negotiate, why would you sign without first obtaining a release? Surely you would make the contract conditional on securing a release?

Why is it the players responsibility? You are encouraged to find another club, you do and you sign. Surely the onus is on WT to do the right thing? What purpose lay in keeping all this hushed until now except to f**k people around? Moltzen wasn't wanted, so he was picked up elsewhere. If the release was the issue, why not sort it out at the time?

Tim you can't leave because we haven't released you

You told me I could look for another club?

Yeah but - we didn't mean it now Lui f**ked up/ didn't think you would get one/benji is not a happy camper/April fools!
