NRL Dream reality TV series to kick off

In the history of reality TV, what strikes you as compelling enough to warrant another one of these shows?

It's about Rugby League, & people will watch it because of that. That's why the network has put it together. Ingenius really... But it's not just another reality show. How many RL skill based shows have you seen?

What on earth makes anyone compare a lotto win to a reality tv show?

I'm not comparing a lotto win to a reality show. I'm using it as a metaphor to how people on this board will whinge about anything. I would have thought everyone would love this idea, but people are petty enough to complain about hosts, or the possibility (unlikely one) that they will have less respect from their teammates because of it.

The only reason these exist is to fill space as cheaply as possible so the stations can pad out the gaps between the stuff they actually paid for.

I sincerely doubt 9 are throwing this is there for sh*ts & giggles. There's plenty of old shows to fill in the gaps.

FFS - can the NRL stick their logo on anything and the code-fans will suck it up regardless?

How many episodes have you watched? A critic typically bases his critisism on something he's seen.

You don't have to watch an episode of each reality TV show to realise that they are all sh*t. Only morons believe they are skill based.

Only league fans have foxsports? Try again

Well considering around 70 or 80 of the top 100 shows on fox every year are league games, yeah I'd say it would be a pretty enormous percentage of viewers that watch league.

It seems you've assigned yourself as the thought and preference police for everyone else.

Australia's greatest athlete was skill based, and it was interesting viewing. It displayed an array of skilled based activities.

Masterchef was perhaps the most watched reality series in Australian history, because it was demonstrating skills that appealed to the masses. Are you saying that that was just a filler program also?

Watching young Rugby League players try out for a contract will garner the interest of a lot of people. It will generate discussion, and will hopefully draw in viewers who otherwise wouldn't be interested in Rugby League.

But it's ok if you don't watch. In fact, I dare you not to.

No. editing your own without any indication being shown that they were edited.

You do realise that there's a window in which we all can edit our posts without it showing up. It's so you can edit mistakes and typos if you notice them quick enough.

Thought police? Drop the angst emo kid.

To answer your question - Yes. masterchef was filler. Cheap filler. Go through the top 40 if you want to see where a pop-contest gets you.

Utterly forgettable crap. Same reason McDonalds and KFC are so popular - but that doesn't make them inherently good or worthwhile.

So we dont want to increase that percentage, increase the game exposure. I live in Perth and none (bar one) of my mates have foxsports for league. We dont want to try and appeal to those guys?

It's pretty clear I don't realise this.

that's because i edited it about a minute after posting seeing i was replying to your post but GKD had just posted so it looked like i was replying to him so i had to reword it

it never shows up if anyone edits their own post within a minute or two of posting

Did you watch Masterchef?
