Oh this topic again.

What's the opposite of expansion?

Contraction!

This is the only thing that'll happen in the NRL.

Forget expansion, work out which sides will go, which sides will merge, because that's all the NRL are interested in.

No it wont. The ARL voted for expansion, voted for the Gold Coast. Only News needs to be swung. And next year when they look at the hopefully increased TV contract and pokie tax aftermath. Chances are they will be given the green light.

What I heard was that the ARL half of the NRL voted for expansion and the Gold Coast. The ARL dumped the CC.

Incorrect.

2 of the ARL reps went the GC. Politis wanted the CC and GC admitted.

The AFL was never torn apart by Rupert Murdoch... because it is unappealing and an inferior product.

So unappealing that a consortium led by News Ltd paid more than $50 million for the rights to televise AFL than they did for the rights to televise RL.

The NRL figures are based on the 1993 contract, which started again when the game re-united in 98. In 2007, we'll see the true worth of NRL rights... and the AFL is going to be embarrassed.

Just like league is embarrassed averaging 14 K to their games whilst AFL attracts on average, 34 K to their games?

The NRL out rates the AFL, even though there's a media blackout of our code in the AFL states.

I'm not replying to you in this thread, I'd rather bash my head against a brick wall... it would prove much more interesting.

Only 1 AFL club has been forced to merge.

So University is still in the VFL/AFL?

And what about the effect the advent of the AFL had on the SANFL and the WAFL? At least two teams in the SANFL have effectively been forced to merge.

Why did South Melbourne Swans relocate to Sydney? Wasn't it to get their hands on money from the VFL to avoid going under?

Were it not for the favored treatment that Sydney and Brisbane get courtesy of salary cap concessions and a better negotiated TV rights contract than the NRL have then both of those teams would be struggling immensely.

Just think the Nrl will expand as the AFL will fold.

In the modern day most blokes dont like seeing gays playing under6s soccer.

The majority of AFL supporters are 90year old women who aint gettin none does that fit your description?

It would be funny to see how many of your precious clubs and expansions would survice a AFL Super League.

Rather have smaller crowds than have 90 year old women screaming and hopeing to see a jersey get ripped off.

Running through toilet paper how cool is that.

Can we add TV ratings to this convo or is it the fact that the NRL kills the afl in tv ratings?

Where in Australia is a viable option?

NSW or QLD perhaps?

New Zealand, Perth, South Australia have all been earmarked for future developement...

Hmm, NZ is such a RL stronghold.

Another team in NZ will do wonders for the current struggling NZ rugby league franchise.

As for Perth and Adelaide, haven't they already been tried and failed misreably.

Western Reds
Adelaide Rams

NSW and QLD are the only options for NRL expansion.

I noticed you didn't have the balls or the brains to reply to the latter part of my post...
Please enlighten us Reggie about the wonder that is international AFL... Where are your expansion options outside of Australia??? The mighty New Zealander AFL team is not to be underestemated I'm sure, but tell me about exactly WHO gives a flying f**k about a game that has to change it's bloody rules to play some decent international opposition???
