NRL has eyes on Adelaide

A permanent team would have to CONVERT that into solid interest - and 10k to a one off once per year just doesn't suggest there is interest. 17k - or what Perth recently got in their coldest night for decades and withy a major road accident preventing many getting there - is what is needed at the very lest

As I said, it'll be a piece of piss if done right. Build a boutique stadium in the southern part of Adelaide, charge comparable prices to the AFL, sell out 20000 every game due to the lessened travel costs of fans.

The positioning of West Lakes leaves an option for somebody else to target the southern side of Adelaide, if they can get a stadium there.

That's well done, Perth could get 10,000 plus if somebody was proactive enough to set up an official bid fan page. Wouldn't that hard to do IMO, just put some info up on the page, pictures etc. to make it look good. Make sure to keep updates regularily and keep the ball rolling for more and more fans.

It's a small and easy thing that promotes alot of awarness amongst fans.

Support the NRL becoming a truly National RL and join our group. Lets take the fight to the AFL!

The stadium situation will be an issue.
There is a political row going on re a city Stadium.

Adelaide oval is terrible for watching league as would be AAMI.
Hindmarsh Stadium was great but a little on the Short side. Re-developing that would be great but the opposition want to put cash into a new Adelaide oval. The current gov don't particularly care, they want a new hospital.

The one off games like the Dogs v Storm a couple of weeks ago aren't much of a guage.
The advertising was crap, it was on at around the same time as a big Crows game and we were in the middle of a pretty bad run of cold, windy and wet weather.
Plus it was the Dogs v Storm!
Tigers, Panthers and Eels and Warriors are the most common jerseys i've seen around.

TV coverage here is crap and the obvious AFL/anti NRL agendas on all local media formats are a hinderence too.

I think what should be done is that a team (possibly the Sharks) should be allowed to play their AWAY games in Adelaide. Say 5 away games and 1 home game. This way they get to keep their traditional support and build in a new area.

The home ground system in inherently a mess and unfair to some clubs in the NRL amyway. The advantage to the Sharks would not be too big and it would be a good deal for both Adelaide and whichever team chose this route. A deal would need to be struck with the other teams competing of course as they lose a home game but if the TV deal etc. is increased by national exposure then that would alleviate the problem. It could be further alleviated by rotating the teams to play in Adelaide (all except the 'Adelaide' team of couurse.

6 games then in Adelaide.

Don't see why not. It doesn't have to be the Sharks but could be any low drawing team.

Something can be arranged whereby the home team still gets the income but the Sharks (eg) benefit from a part of it and from the increased memberships etc. It is very do-able if compromises can be reached.

The teams playing can even market their single game to their fans located in SA selling a membership on the back of it. I for one bought a Sharks membership (to go with my Souths membership) when they said they would be coming here once a year for three years.

For the long term benefit of the league and the game and therefore the teams themselves maybe vested interests can be put aside.

How is the home ground system a mess?

Can anyone explain the process involved in a team relocating? Namely..

a) Do they submit an application to the NRL for permission to do so before going to a vote to the board or members?

b) Do they need to have a vote of club members to agree to moving the club, or is a purely a board decision?

c) What is the financial inducement the NRL is offering for location at the moment? Is it a fixed amount, or are they willing to up the ante if they think it is reasonable?

d) How would the IC affect any of this?

Thanks in advance.
