RL is a serious threat to RU in Fiji and the P. Islands, great work.

Let's hope they put in the hard yards and commit long term

Whole lot more sense than any pie in the sky development of the game in the US. Let's hope this is not cosmetic and we see Fiji in the NSW State competition sooner rather than later. Strong Pacific representation in Rugby League may one day attract South Africa, the big prize for International Rugby League

You should send a strongly-worded email to the NSWRL demanding that Fiji take part in the NSW Cup next season.

I did that when PNQ were adopted by the QRL but NSW being NSW I didn't expect anything to come of it . . . maybe you being a Fijian would have better luck

It's win win win for the NRL.

They can find a player pool to replace the loss of players from country football, they can claim they're doing their bit for international football and Fiji will never be big enough to threaten the power of the establishment.

Of course the irony of it is Fijian RL has grown exponentially on the back of the country rugby league opening up links and pathways to help Fijians come to Australia. In a decade we'll probably see more Fijians in the NRL than country players.

Yep it is the easy fix. Similarly in Tasmania they are happy to let contact football die and claim a presence through touch football.

It is the easy way out.

Great news.

What's great is that the NRL realises the strategic importance of the Pacific Islands and has a strategy and*the capital and resources to have a presence there.

Fiji and the other Pacific Island nations have become great breeding grounds for league players.

So this will make us even stronger in Fiji. Good move.

It is funny. The Anti Bully, Violence against women, Healthy eating and rugby league reads are the greatest assert that has ever been introduced into rugby league. Along with the no-punch and no dickheads rule.

The Australia Government is even supporting rugby league into PNG with funding because of these initiatives.

This is good, Daley wanting to strip samoa of players for Origin, bad.

He has got Aussie Jim, and Tongo Topou.
Daley is single handedly wrecking international rugby league, nice work knumbnuts.

My first move in the Pacific Islands would be a state of the art halves academy headed up by some genuine legends like Johns/Fitler. Have the top couple of 18 year olds from each Pacific nation sent there for the summer to develop. There are some incredible athletes and footballers over there but they will never be able to compete consistently until they start producing halves of a better standard than Ben Roberts.
