Despite my bleak predictions for this season, I actually think we can win this.

Widdop/Benji/Dugan could be lethal.

I just hope we see some exciting footy.
I don't angst too much about injuries.
They can happen in the first trial, at training, warming up, getting out of the car.

Didnt you hear? Kyle Stanley has signed with Sharks...

Just an outsiders point of view guys.... Think $26 is overs for you guys in the nines. Think your squad is quite pacy and will be competitive. Side to beat in your pool is Parramatta. Unfortunately (just for the record) I think $42 is big unders for the regular season. Looking forward to a couple of cracker local derbys on Sunday afternoons.... Where they should be. Best of luck for the season ahead.

Don't care about winning or losing as such but would like to see how we go with ball in hand and see what skills the players have developed over the off season

I know it's only the 9's but effort seemed no different from last year
It's 9's but they looked clueless on how to play it. The Knights put some thought into it with kicks when there was no-one back. They also had a number of quick elusive smaller players like Mullen, Roberts & Mamo.

The Dragons had too many plodders for this type of game - Green ( why is he with the club ? ), Cooper, Matthews & Wakeman. I know it's not touch footy, but they just burnt possession with no frills hit ups. They wasted a guy like Dugan - seems as though very little thinking went into tactics. The only time the backs got it in space they scored.

only 9's but you can still read small things into it like on field organisation, on field communication, player fitness and speed, and all round general "slickness".
not a promising start.

Green.

The speed of a prop. The strength of a winger.

lol, honestly... he has to be in the 13 man side of worst players in this clubs history. .

lack of skill level is also a concern, the number of errors was damning

yeah i think in a pre season tournament you are really relying on a players natural instincts and skills to take over, as they would have been basically doing strength and conditioning training most of the pre season..
ie - mullen and his running and kicking game we just saw...

and we seem to really lack in naturally footy instincts and natural ability in a lot of players...
same as last season...

im not too surprised though as this was already a concern coming into the season and they have done nothing in the off season to fix it.

We looked to have no idea - it's obvious the Nihe
Nines is a diff game altogether.

My thoughts are that the club Should have appointed a specialist Nines Coach to try and get the best result.. Someone like Phil Blake or Andrew Johns just for a 2-3 week period and M Gregor could have sat back.

They would have at least had a strategic approach to the game..

Right now it's turning out to be a useless exercise..

They weren't that crafty with ball except for the only try they scored. To me, it's like they were playing NRL instead of 9s with hit ups to the line instead of throwing the ball around. Still struggled to get out of their own 30 at times.

Also looked very tired and puffed out.

I know it's only fun and games, but it Would be good to win and progress to the next rounds.

They looked better than the Knights in the first 5 minutes.

Some shocking passes from benji put them on the backfoot. He never was and never will be a natural organiser.
