Relocated team.

sharks perhaps ?
Sharks are rich

Not just the ground plus their existing leagues club
Property in Cronulla plus the Kareela park golf course

Area has a massive junior base

Ground cap will go back to 18k in 2026 once leagues club redevelopment is finally complete

Similar deal to the western bears with 1 heritage regular round game at shark park against the dragons and a few trial games.

Impossible to say what will happen in 10 years plus time. Who knows what sport, tv and the administration will be like by then.

It’ll be nz

Which bid is the question ?

Or perhaps a merger

What can the qld govt offer to trump it?

Rebuild Suncorp to 70k would be the only thing that might do it

Tbh I’m starting to think about teams 21 to 24 since the others seem locked in
OK, assuming 18, 19 and 20 are Perrh Bears, PNG & Christchurch...

21 Brisbane 3 (will be either that Jets bid or Brisbane Easts)

22-23 NZ 3 (Likely Wellington IMO but can't discount the chance of Hamilton) & Adelaide - order depends on how prepared Adelaide is.

24 Either Fiji, another Queensland club, another NZ club or a derby for Melbourne or Perth

Who’s to say that the joint ventures of west tigers and St Georg-Illawarra dragons will still be around in 10 years time?

Nah ..it’s been 25 years now
Exactly.

The only thing that *might* happen to change the profile of Sydney is a "perfect storm" of board incompetence/economic downturn/once in a blue moon event like a pandemic that cruels a club, combined with an unexpected "tough love" approach from the NRL that makes any bailout conditonal on relocation.

Note : with the way the NRL grant pretty much keeps clubs afloat nowdays, that scenario requires continuous miracles interspersed by acts of God.

No chance.
IMO all current teams are safe.

Maybe disbanded.
Next to no chance.
SGI is basically a relocation with StG still holding 50% shareholding, Birketu (WIN) holding the other 50%.

it would take remarkable unforeseen happenings for your suggestions to happen. IMO of course.

Thought I read somewhere that they are asset rich as well as receiving $40 million government funding for stadium upgrades and New COE.
They themselves are not rich, east tigers are asset rich, own everything, stadium/club etc, Jets look like they are getting gifted certain things, due to the area thet represent... not that that matters, clubs could be based in Darwin or the moon these days with the grant
