Why this deal and not others? Each one has been bigger than the previous...Positive result and I am a long term defender of NRL, but you had want to be making profit in Year 1 of the new TV deal...

Sounds like enough money to support a 17th team imo

Come on Frail, the Annual Report link was posted, can't look it up yourself?
From the concise financials in the Annual report link in Post #5

Be interesting to see what they do with this profit.
Investing in some assets would be my preference, but what would I know.

Honestly im a little surprised it's only $46M
Simple maths suggest spending has outpaced saving. Improvement in turnover between 2017-18 is $122.9 million but we only saved $46 million.
I know the cap and some other funding went up and even accounting for previous debts, to spend an ADDITIONAL $70million dollars in one year is a lot for an already established competition.
So you expect the NRL to stand still and not spend it while we got the AFL spending millions in NSW and QLD?
Isn’t getting them anywhere
Not much point having a 17th team without an 18th team. Same number of games (read advertising space) but increased costs.Sounds like enough money to support a 17th team imo
