Gus certainly hasn’t taught Ciraldo a poker face yet, very telling when he was asked about Galvin that they are right in there
Faaaaaark....I am listening to this now (yes it's 4.11am, early riser)

I have listened to most, if not all of his online content - I am a huge fan of how engaging Gus is as a commentator and the depth of his knowledge - and far out, he has always wanted to make it very clear the Dogs wouldn't sign Galvin. It will be crazy if they do

Last night he also put out a tweet along the lines of “Anything happen today in rugby league ? I’ve been busy all day”

They are always economical with the truth... and downright dishonest...

Galvin's rhetoric is he wants the best coaching, and a team competing for the premiership - Ryles is a Rookie coach, the Eels have been awful - I guess the upside would be Moses at 7, and the kid at fullback looks the real deal...

In contrast, the Dogs are top of the table, Ciraldo has a few years more than Ryles, Gould is a league savant, he plays with Burton, and his mentor is on staff...

Will be interesting, he'll probably end up with the Roosters lol

It's only been a few years since the Warriors fans would be keen to sign him. Sacked from another club, we'd look at his record, look at our own dire coach, look at who else is in the market, and go 'yes!'
And most important he might come cheap.

Tbf if he really is after the best coaching (fk that still makes me wanna puke) and a competitive team, I reckon the Roosters tick more boxes than either the Dogs or Eels.

A logical halves pairing with Walker, an experienced coach who’s also coached successful halves, and as a club they're almost always in the mix.

Whether Uncle Nick can bury his beef with Moses, or whether its too late cos DCE is already signed as suspected, who knows. But if they got past all that, they'd make a very compelling case IMO.

Signing a 36 year old over a 19 year old is all about short-term strategy. The Chooks should look to the future.
Will be interesting, I suspect Uncle Nick is flexible around what he's said, just like Gus is... I have no idea how it will settle, but Dogs wouldn't be a surprise imo

I would put better than even money on 2027 DCE being like 2024 SJ- the spirit might be there but the legs will have checked out.
2024 SJ was too busted, I wouldn't say the mileage was gone in the legs in a long-term fatigue sense but he had that Achilles thing that wasn't allowing him to train, then hampering his zip.

I think Gus is right, the Roosters just like to buy shiny things so others can't have them sometimes. DCE when you have Sandon Smith going from strength to strength, and Sam Walker whose already proven he can flat out play at NRL level, is just hoarding. And detrimental. I think DCE can do a job alongside a dynamic running half, if he's motivated, even at 37-38. But I think he holds back both Sandon and Walker because Sandon probably becomes the left right out, and Walker should be (if fit) doing what Metcalf is doing now, learning how to manage a team through 80 minutes and keeping it hand in hand with the strong running game he has.

What's the jam with Uncle Nick and Moses, didn't Nick lobby the NRL to let Moses back into accreditation only to be burned again?

I don't think the Dogs is a good fit for Galvin, necessarily. He's a rookie 6, a running guy, who doesn't have 7 qualities that we see. And the Dogs have Sexton at 6. What does Galvin offer that 25-year-old gun Matt Burton doesn't? Do the Dogs want Burton back in the centres when they have two absolute jets in Critta and Xerri?

I see a lot of 'Galvin to the Dogs now' but I don't see the fit. I still think it has to be to Parra to play alongside Moses, who is suitably elite that he just knocked Luai out of a spot in Origin.

Burton is the 6, and a special talent imo. Galvin can do what Sexton does and more…. He could also slip in nicely with Moses…. He could add to a lot of teams tbh.

Agree the Roosters and DCE is very short sighted, but Nick will want a win soon…

Moses shafted the Chooks with the deal to take Joseph to Rugby, his dealing with them were pretty unprofessional so Politis black listed him

I’m actually not sure that he can do what Sexton does. Galvin is impetuous and hasn’t shown any capability of running a game plan and steering them around the park. Burton couldn’t do that either when they gave him the keys to it. Sexton may be the glue that is being underrated in getting that side going, will be an interesting watch

Hmm, as Beaver said, not sure that's true. Not sure you can have two people in your halves that play the same way. We found that with TMM/SJ, two guys who want to run the team and get their hands on the ball. Does Burton/Galvin work? Two guys who haven't shown they can operate the driver's seat, not game organisers. The Knights (not this year) have worked because they have a playmaker in Ponga at the back, but Treacy isn't that. So where would their direction come from?

And in actuality, what has Galvin offered of any meaningful substance in his 31 games? Are we buying into hype that actually doesn't exist? I don't watch many Tigers games so I genuinely don't know.

I’ve watched a few and he does show some very nice touches.

But he also played 21 games last year, he was the primary playmaker after Benji gave him the keys and they finished dead last. I think the hype train led by Gus and keeps forgetting that.

Apparently Reynolds confirmed on Triple M this morning that there’s been interest from the Tigers. His preference is to stay put, but the Tigers have told his manager if Brisbane falls through, they’d be keen to chat.

Dunno what that’d mean for Fainu, or where Luai would play… feels like a bit odd.

He does have plenty of ability. This whole episode doesn’t do his reputation any favours though, and how much would a new squad trust him straight away. We have all seen the likes of Tim Smith, Brett Firman, Chris Sandow etc who have made a big splash immediately then for various reasons not gone on with it

Something I was listening to today suggested that the Dogs have now changed course, because they didn’t start the year seeing themselves as a serious contender, and now the comp has gone how it has they are looking at this year as an opportunity, and there is a feeling now that they can’t take Sexton to a premiership winning level 7

If this does all come through as being reported, the treatment of Sexton will be disgraceful

Dude has been good enough to get them this far, but they don’t think he’s good enough to finish the job and that why they’re trying to land Galvin early? Oh man that’s cold…
