It's Origin time again and that means a diluted round, but at least we have that. Who would be a fan of Origin-only weekends? They tried it and and I don't think we liked it.

Tonight, it's gnarly at Shark Park, with Cronulla hosting St George. A southern Sydney derby with a history I'm not too familiar with. What is certain is Fitzy and Flano tensing up in the coach's box. They were poor last week and the fans will be getting restless, especially if they have to use portaloos, as one of us pointed out here last week.

Friday, Dessie's desperate Titans are up against a wounded Cherry-Evans and Manly. There's so much to 'unpack' there, as they say. Throw in Daly's snub of the GC when he was last looking for a new contract and it's more than 'just a game'!

Saturday, just two goodies, Ponga-less Newcastle at home to a Origin-ravaged Roosters. Then, way up north, it's NQ v Dolphins. It's all a tipper's nightmare!

We close on Sunday with Souths hosting the Dogs. No Latrell but he's old hat now anyway, what with Kid Galvin unleashed, all eyes are on him.

Enjoy!

Love these posts ahead of the weekend's footy, thank you mate 👍

Sometimes these bye weekends can be fizzer but there's some genuinely interesting games ahead.

As you say, Titans v Manly and the DCE subplot will be fascinating.

Walker's return and how he combines with Savala makes the Knights v Roosters game an interesting watch as well.

But Rabbits v Dogs is the one I'm really looking forward to, given what's been reported about how Sexton (away from the cameras) and Mahoney took their demotions last week.

With the Warriors bye my mind has already drifted off to other sports.

The ICC Test Final isn't getting big coverage here in Oz. Why? I think it's because it ain't on free TV. They always drop the ball there. Free TV is still king for sport. Anyway, SA seem to be choking, which is typical.

Blues v Crusaders? The Chiefs will do the Brumbies in Hamilton.

And who won the NBA finals? Geez, I just fell out of that one. I hope it was Indiana. They've waited so long.
... Edit: I've just seen Indiana are up 2-1.

US golf open on the hardest golf course in America starting tonight. Could be fun watching pro golfers making tits of themselves hacking out of knee high rough and trying to putt on treacherous greens that roll 20 feet the wrong way if you make the smallest of errors.
Narrow fairways that you cant afford to miss, bunkers by the dozens, and massive undulating greens.
Oh.. and a 300 yard par 3 that needs driver if the wind is against you.
Chaos incoming.

I've never had the patience. My father loves golf but his two boys wouldn't have a bar of it. Same with horse-racing!

Are the Sharks serious this year ? Huge disappointment so far
I thought they were, on paper they certainly should be...apart from McInnes who they insist on playing and murders their attack, they're pretty strong 1-17. But nah, just don't see it based on 15 rounds. Did beat the Storm a few weeks ago though.

Watched 10mins of the rugby, 10mins of my life I’ll never get back. 6 penalties, and 30 phases where the ball was picked up and carried forward 30cm at time

You never learn. At least the Crusaders won.

Meanwhile, at Robina, Daly leads Manly out and Foran leads the Gold Coast out. Fourteen years after their GF win over the Warriors, the old guys are still going.

Taukeiaho is back for Manly. The whole team's stacked, unusual for Origin time.
