Another Origin hangover, this one's felt all the way from WA, which means more players won't back-up than usual. I hope that includes our Kurt, who went hard out last night and deserves a rest.

Friday, I miss the early game. You're just having your first beer but the league doesn't get started until you're four beers in. Anyway, it's the Luai-less Tigers against the rampant vikings. Luai will keep one eye on this and the other on the judiciary.

Saturday, three goodies. Warriors v Penrith at Mt Smart. All the Origin stars are missing for the defending premiers, which makes them dangerous. Us Warriors fans love putting the heebie-jeebies on ourselves. But can you blame us?

The slick Dolphins should deal to Newcastle. Will Ponga play? He might be on a huge high, as his last-minute knock-on didn't cost Qld the series but, gee, it could have. Souths v Storm, Bennett v Bellamy! It doesn't get much bigger in the box.

Sunday, Brisbane host Cronulla. Is Walsh back? His spark could give the Broncos a mid-season boost. The Origin-ravaged Roosters face a Cowboys outfit devastated by last week. Payten is under the pump! But Robbo's not too flash either. We know who needs the win more though.

We close with the Eels and the Tits, live on stage! It's 'Pride Week' so I may as well throw that in. Although, I think Pride is different these days, Oxford Street just ain't the same, I've heard.

Enjoy.

It's no beer for me tonight, the three games tomorrow will be the night to get on it. I can't wait but, starting at about six pm Sydney time, the Warriors better not have killed the mood.

Big effort.

He's going good in the 2nd half but it won't be enough. The Tigers just don't have the killer instinct.

16-12, Raiders. 24 mins left.
...and there you go, the Tiger is pushed over the sideline before the set is done. Hopeless.
...it's all Wests but Canberra are holding firm.
...and now it's a momentum-changer with a Tigers hair pull! You couldn't make that up.

Canberra hold on, 16-12. Poor Benji, Poor Jarome, poor Tigers fans in freezing Campbelltown.

Beave, the Pacers are a chance now. I'm not a fan - don't really like them one way or another - but I can't remember an NBA without them. So it's time they won their first championship.

Yep surprised it has made it to 7 games, I expect the Thunder will get it done, but will be going for the Pacers. Guessing the game will be on Monday, I’ll be on complete media silence until I get home and get it watched

Watched a little bit of that rugby final, certainly no longer the game I grew up watching. Was tense, but the final 10mins was more like a game of AFL with box kick after box kick after box kick. Chiefs didn’t quite seem to understand that if you need to score a try to win, you need to have the ball in your hands. Earlier on during halftime of the NRL switched over and the Crusaders spent 5 mins picking it up and getting 30cm at a time, no intent to spin the ball out at all, and ended up being held up and down the other end of the park with no result

A thriller in Perth, 20-all, three mins left. Newcastle seem to have the business-end energy...

And Jones scores. Newy have won! 26-20.

As for the Warriors fallout, I've quit drinking two beers in. It's just not tasting any good. Losing sucks. It's just after eight pm and I've already got the kettle boiling. 😐

yep. game has definitely changed and not in a good way. Warriors missed an opportunity to showcase league on domestic rugbys night of nights.

Union is awful. Quite often, including last night, a big game is only a decent spectacle because of the tension of being a big game.

Some Test matches and crucial Super games, the nerves rise so they keep it tight and kick incessantly, which is an awful spectacle. Yet I'm watching it with union heads and I'll hear them say dont kick it don't kick it, but I'm yet to see a single mention that kicking out of hand needs to be somehow outlawed to allow the game to be watchable again.

You had the best two teams last night, attacking talent to burn and yet none of it was showcased. It was putrid.

Interested where we stand with the disrupter rule now

There was the Warriors try, I’ve only seen it once so not sure how much scrutiny it copped, but he jumped early and knocked players into the catcher ? And the Newcastle winner, their guy jumped up and past the fullback with no effort to catch it. Hammers effort was awful and I don’t necessarily think it should be a penalty, but it seemed to be what they were pinging last year

Good post. The whole round stinks! I mentioned before that I was having a night on the beer. Just six Heineken at the back of the fridge. Friday night was dry in anticipation. I knew my plan was fraught with danger as the Warriors kicked-off here at three.

Dry for the game then on it till ten/ten-thirty pm was the idea. Two sour-tasting beers in and I had the kettle on at eight pm.

On another note, sadly, after such a remarkably different season, it could still be a Penrith v Melbourne grand final.

Yeah, and tbh a full strength Penrith would be favourites imo…

Dogs seem a bit like us, and aside from those two I’m not sure who you could be confident in in a big game
