After the Mickey Mouse show of round one it's starting to feel like footy season has really started. Apart from the thirty-degree weather here in Sydney that is!

Tonight, I had a pop at my Broncos workmate just now, telling him I'm looking forward to seeing one of the Broncos stunning superstars score the club's first point this season. Who will it be? There's so many to choose from and their opponents, poor Parra, could be in for another pasting.

Tomorrow, Mt Smart hosts Canberra. Another sold out crowd? After last week I'd say so. The Raiders are no fools though, they're smarting over their straight-sets finals exit last year, and have pace to burn. We could be exposed down the left flank, Sticky knows this, and arrived in town extra early to run those drills. I heard he used cardboard cut-outs of Dallin and Ali. I hate him!

SFS, Roosters v Rabbitohs, tradition going all the way back to 1908. It's the perfect Friday night show and it's how we should open the season.

Saturday, the three goodies are back! A sunny afternoon at a packed Leichhardt, Benji v Todd. Both coaches with a lot on their plates. One thing's for certain, there's no better time to be a Tigers fan than this early in the year. Expect a sea of orange. Down in the 'Gong, St George will be hoping it'll be a bogey venue for the mighty Storm and, out in Bathurst, Penrith will hope Cronulla won't be overly keen leaving the beach, on such a balmy day. Anyone fancy a Panthers v Storm grand final? No, I thought not, but that looks likely, unfortunately.

Sunday, Brookvale will be full again, and let's hope the Manly faithful don't almost cause a crowd-crush this week. The Knights look much improved, so it could be another case where the home fans pile out early only to hear that magical roar, as their team piles on late points. No one was hurt last week so it was hilarious hearing about fans being stuck on Pittwater Road, and panicking to get back in.

We close with our first Qld derby, the Dolphins v Titans. We'll find out if the GC really are our wooden spoon favourites, even this early in the season. They were that bad last week.

Enjoy!

broncos off to a flier.

ive finally twigged to why they are kicking long on drop goals this year. that new rule with the both hands needing to be up. makes it harder to get the ball back on a short dropout?
i know its all been said before but Cronk is so bad. hard to enjoy the game when his nasal rubbish is drilling a hole in my head...

Yes, but did you see Staggs?
Bunker said he went up with 2 hands, 1 hand never went above his shoulder, used 1 hand at full stretch to knock it back.......
Looked like 1 hand to me.

Does this new rule mean Inu wouldn't have scored that memorable finals try against the Tigers? Remember, he went up with one hand and tried to knock it backwards (or if he did touch it he didn't knock-on, as the ball went backwards in the contested jump).

Walsh in, rocks and diamonds tonight, but he's always dangerous. 32-28, Broncos. See, Parra should've gone for the six not two.

... it's a wonderful game of 'T20' league! 34-32, Parra are back in front. That was a great sideline conversion by Moses. Heaps of time left though.

...a minute left, can Parra close it? Yeeeeeeeesss! Pezet scores. 40-32, Parra. Final.

Genuine question - why has the new rule come into effect? I had never even heard of it before our game last week. Do they think one-handed bat backs are messy and not in the spirit of the game?

Did they celebrate too much in the off-season? Their next game is down in Melbourne too. I love it.
Some teams like Penrith have the steel in them to win multiple premierships, to back up that intensity year after year...it's early days but when you look at Brisbane, you doubt they are cut from the same cloth.

Weird. The Broncos are the Premiers but they just can’t win at the moment. That’s three losses in a row and rumours of an unhappy camp fuelled by the loss the best prop in the world.

TBH even last year I wasn't that impressed with Brisbane - Penrith were totally exhausted (mainly their own doing of course) and were still very unlucky to lose to them... they have a wide range in where they could finish this year imo
