The moment of truth for us, are we top-four material? Or imposters? We win, we stay, we lose, we - um - probably don't. I think we'd all agree that, once we drop out of the top-four, we won't get back into it. As it is, it's round 23 and we're still there. It's something to fight for on Saturday night.
Tonight though, Melbourne v Brisbane has a big-time final written all over it. The Broncos haven't won there for nine years. That's almost as bad as us.
Friday, Knights v Panthers. It may look a certainty to the Mountain Men but a bit of hubris might be coming their way. Let's hope a Knights fan smuggles in an air horn, and off it goes, just as Nathan is about to kick that crucial goal. The only thing wrong with this plan is that dear Nathan will probably take about ten kicks at goal.
Canberra will ace the hapless Sea Eagles. There's no points in Manly at the moment. There's trouble at Brookvale but they're still in the competition. Two good wins and things can change quite quickly.
Saturday, three goodies, as usual. The southern Sydney derby is interesting. St George aren't ready to call 'Sad Monday' and the Sharks are in a bit of winning form. Big Addin might be the difference, as those itchy feet of his want finals action, or a sudden sprint to another club.
The Dolphins, with no Farnworth, can still win tough games, as we painfully know. The Chooks are like cage hens, with no room to move and pressure to produce, the poor things. Then, the big one, Dogs v Warriors, in front of a whopping crowd. As said, we need a result our way, and it's actually due. I can hear the 'hey, hey, hey, goodbye' taunt now.
Sunday, Titans v Rabbitohs, Dessie v Wayne. The battle for the spoon. It's almost unbelievable typing that. We close with Parra hosting NQ. Both sides are playing for pride. Although, that's not quite right, as one side is also playing for their coach's job, you'd think. For once it's not the Eels!
Enjoy!
