Average night of footy so far

Cowboys never convinced me fully last year and they are extremely unimpressive at the moment

They clung on for the win. Ponga came off the bench and looked good, which is a relief. When he suffered that shoulder charge it was an 'oh no' moment.

Had a feeling the Tigers would get us today, but have just watched the jersey presentation for Samuela Fainu, and they should be massively up for it after watching that. Olakau’atu could barely get a word out through the tears making the speech and obviously the emotion factor after his idiot brother chucked it all away as well

Don't you love sport, we beat Cowboys twice, Knights get us in our recent encounter and push Panthers but lose to Cowboys!

Pretty sure only 1 team won the week after golden point game this year. (Wrong 2)

Golden point games 2023
Eels Storm Rd 1, both lost rnd2
Eels Panthers Rd4, Eels lost, Panthers won Rd 5
South Manly Rd 4, Souths lost, Manly draw Rd5
Manly Knights Rd5, Manly lost, Knights win. Rd6
Cows Dogs Rd5, Both lost Rd6
Knights Panthers Rd7, both lost Rd8.

12 teams, 2 wins, 1 draw and 9 losses.

Remember 2016? I think we had three golden-point games. I attended two, the first was a surprising win by a try, against the Roosters in Gosford. That was a very happy, four-hour journey home by train.

The second was a loss at Cronulla. Maloney sunk us (who else?) and it was miserable getting home that night.

During the pandemic our golden-point fortunes took a significant uptick, didn't they? Johnson was our specialist and let's hope that continues.

Another thing, it's on my bucketlist to see the Tigers on a Sunday afternoon at Leichhardt. But today's not the day, as they're in Campbelltown. What sort of crowd will turn up? There's no cool, inner-west, Balmain fans out there. It's struggling Magpie country, will they tolerate what's going on with the club?

Tigers coming off the bye, we'll rested and have no chance! Haha.
Will be the second team to lose off the bye this year (1st was Panthers)

12 min to go and Manly are 2 points down against the Tigers… Beave’s arse must be puckered pretty tight right now 😂

Edit: … right on cue Manly score off a kick. Ah Tigers, never change…

Terrible game of footy, Tigers had absolutely everything in terms of possession and field position for the entire 80mins and never looked like delivering much.

Unbelievable how often we get a wet game against the lower ranked sides. 2nd on the ladder, but the attitude changes from week to week, outside of the Penrith flogging haven’t been behind in any other game after 80mins, and a couple of those against the other heavyweights. 4 forwards on the bench was stupid thinking from Seibold and then lose 2 backs during the match lol

Will add it is hilarious watching guys when Olakau’atu is coming at them, Miller went 5m into his ingoal and Brooks had the coward play of the year today jumping out of his way when DCE was already covered

I’m hoping the Warriors don’t follow suit, Webster seems to be valuing players with defensive starch and everyone seems keen to put their body on the line. (Too keen in Egan’s case!)

Will be a big test for Shaun with Ola coming at him, but the guys beside have been doing their jobs so far. Think Manly v Warriors might not be until the final round

Weird comp, so many teams look amazing 1 week and ordinary the next

We could be out of the 8 with a big enough loss and Roosters with a big enough win.
But also 2nd if we win.
That's how close it is this year (so far)

Shaun had been defending well enough this year he doesn’t need a minder. He’s no midget half. He’s actually pretty much the same size as Victor Radley (179cm/91kg vs 182cm/92kg)

And the Dolphins comeback? That makes our 28-6 halftime capitulation to Penrith in 2017 (28-36 final) seem more bearable now.

(Six years later and I'm still scarred).

Dragons 5 tries to 4 over the Roosters but miss the conversions to lose by 1

Roosters looking ok but not great. Lodge not the same as last year

The next Dragons coach has some young talent to work with, plenty of opportunities there

Wighton to South’s, personally I don’t think it’s a bad thing for Canberra, 2019 is a fair way back now and he is still living off it, 1.1mil was a more than fair offer from them
