The RLPA didn't deny it was them that held back announcing the NRLW cap.

The NBA is going through the same thing, It is common practice now
If the players are going to be this antagonistic every time negotiation rolls around the the arlc should do them zero favours in between cba deals

just getting back pay they lost due to covid when afl players didn’t is a reason to be cordial to the arlc, amongst many other decisions

Yep

shows abdo and vlandys are feeling the pressure tbh

every five years is this going to happen ? It’s pathetic

there’s a story that abdo and vlandys respected Clint Newtown due to a personal emergency and put the talks on hold

It's in Weidler's column in the Sun Herald. Newton's young daughter is quite ill (iirc).

It wasn’t an nrl favour lol it was based on financial performance as agreed in cba and at time of accepting the reductions (and even then nrl tried to weasel its way out of paying all of it by hiding revenue). And they didn’t get close to everything they lost.

afl upped the aflpa payment from $18mill to $60mill in 2021 so yes they also paid some back.

Nope

you’ve mixed up the arlc promising the players extra money if profits exceeded forecast

And it’s good to see the afl catching up to the arlc

there’s no reason for the players to be so antagonistic towards vlanyds it’s just a flex

How is fighting for improved conditions for players antagonistic?

10 years ago he was a pretty good journalist

now I wouldn’t bother with his articles even the free ones

time spent in England has made him sound like a whiny pom
