I’ve been seeing various reports of a comp starting in Victoria to replace the SA/Vic limestone Coast comp that’s been run in recent years.

Hard to tell if it will get off the ground or not.

Similarly the Mildura based Sunraysia comp is hard to get a read on.
If NRL vic can get both up and running along with the Goulburn Murray comp which is going strongly Country Rugby League in Victoria will be looking good.
Looks like the limestone Coast comp and/or it’s replacement will not be running this year. Bit of a shame but I wonder if it’s a resources issue with NRL Vic?

For those interested there is another new club in the Melbourne comp, the Peninsular Dolphins. Meanwhile the Goulburn Murray comp has expanded to 8 teams in both men’s and women’s senior comps from 5 men’s and 6 women’s last year. I’d expect another boom in junior numbers this year as well in Melbourne.
Oh and I nearly forgot, Melbournes senior second grade men’s has two new teams expanding from 6 to 8.
Be interesting to see what it all looks like in April when they kick off.

They should flow the SG Ball guys into these teams as that comp ends

NRL Vic will be fielding an under 20s comp this year. Three clubs are trialling right now so it will be interesting to see the final number. I’m not sure they’ve ever run this grade before.

This is where letting the Storm and NRL Victoria work together pays off.

Storm's u19's guys and the younger Flegg players now have a comp locally to play in

Exactly. This will also mean four senior men’s grades in the Melbourne comp.

This is why I am all for the new way of doing things, more can be done because it is targetted from a local level
That’s the advantage of the centralised model. I know PR disagrees but this is a good model. Just takes time to bed down.

He isn't the only one. Who better to know where to put the Funds than the storm and NRL Victoria?

That is why I am for it
Simple fact is now that through this partnership NRL VIC is clearly the third biggest State in rugby league. There is a lot of other work going on in schools comps and pathways development and their Harmony cup this year was huge. Lots of momentum there.

30 March, Storm host Fiji in a suburban park in Melbourne.

Stuff like that is great for the game

Under 20s teams had trials in Melbourne yesterday with 4 clubs participating. Be interesting to see if there will be more. The number of 3rd grade teams will also be of interest as 1st, 2nd grades and under 20s already have 18 teams and the total number of senior men’s teams last season was 22. Given the expansion in the Goulburn Murray comp we will see a pretty big increase in senior men’s teams across Victoria this year.

Good to see the Storms non existent (according to some) pathways teams having success
