If it’s not in Brisbane for whatever reason I’d give Melbourne or Auckland a go next.
Greenberg created Magic Round specifically for Queensland to reestablish goodwill after stringing the Queensland government along over the GF to get more money out of the NSW Premier. If they gave it to Melbourne or Auckland it would create animosity with the Queensland government.

Definitely Melbourne at marvel
Didn't work for union, won't happen with league,

Besides PVL wont gift Melbourne shit, he'd rather swallow his pride, say sorry and take it to perth and then make them pay for it, besides Suncorp is perfect, i went to the 2nd year one, the city was buzzing, Melbourne won't have that same off field presence, it would be dower, other than bellamy... nothing good from from Melbourne

Feeling like we may have dodged a bullet - most of my mates either go for the Raiders, Roosters or Eels. We were going to book for Sunday but life got in the way and we couldn't make it happen.

With this weather it could prove to be a bit of a shamozzle.

I booked last year to go the Cowboys vs Roosters game, had 3 nights in Townsville and then 4 nights at Magnetic Island but then the second wave of Covid hit so couldn't travel to QLD so it was cancelled, was basically to just get out of Sydney during winter to somewhere warm and the footy game would have been a bonus.
That is the way to do Townsville, make it a trip away instead of a fly in fly out experience. There are lots of good beaches to check out in Townsville and Magnetic Island, the Museum of Tropical Queensland is good fun. Also you do the tour of Magnetic Island which is 75% National Park, the guided tours of it are very good especially when they take you to feed to the rock wallabies. It is definitely a good break, especially for parents with younger kids.

Only thing is you want to do it when it is the dry season up there. My first time it was the tail end of the west wet season (i.e. Late March - early April) and the heat was ok, but the humidity is the real killer. When the game kicked off (which was at 8.30 pm local time) it was 28 degrees and around 80% humidity. I must have sweated out a couple of kilos in water during the game that year.

We know the people want Melbourne Magic Round. Rolls off the tongue.

In all seriousness it would be a huge success down here - but I doubt it would ever happen.

The same thing was said about the Rugby Union one. It was a dud

Yes that's why mid July was a perfect time to go last year, still have the air fare credit and was waiting for the draw to come out for this year but saw the game was on in April this year so that ruled out going there. Will get there one day hopefully if the draw is kind, was really looking forward to going to Magnetic Island, especially the beaches and just chilling out in general.

We need another Magic Round in Sydney. All games can be matches between Sydney and interstate teams that don't draw a crowd on their own.

Parramatta Stadium
Tigers vs Storm
Eels vs Warriors

SFS
Roosters vs Titans
Rabbitohs vs Cowboys
Cronulla vs Dolphins

Stadium Australia
Bulldogs vs Raiders
Panthers vs Sea Eagles
Dragons vs Knights

Broncos Bye

I know. The tradition is that it is in Brisbane. It always has been. For ever.

When has penrith or sea eagles ever been "interstate" should drop roosters out as the bye team, not the very interstate broncos
