Greenberg created Magic Round specifically for Queensland to reestablish goodwill after stringing the Queensland government along over the GF to get more money out of the NSW Premier. If they gave it to Melbourne or Auckland it would create animosity with the Queensland government.

Brisbane will get the first few at least but they won’t keep it forever based solely on that goodwill. It will be opened to bids soon if it isn’t already like the neutral Origin game.

Not saying money offered should be the only criteria, stadium size and likelihood of filling the venue should be considered as well.

Hopefully they split the games between Brisbane, Gold Coast and Townsville next year. It'll give rugby league free advertising for a week across Queensland and help tourism. It'll be a massive blow to AwFuL.

This year brought in 30,000 tourists

You won't fit them anywhere else

Youre a moron
Maybe you were better off putting cowboys vs bulldogs in sydney, call it the JT trophy match
Penrith v Manly

Penrith Football Stadium

That's right. Less than 8k people turned up to watch Manly play Penrith at the Penrith Football Stadium three years ago before COVID-19.

Face it buddy, these two teams draw shit crowds when they play mid-season.

So why not have them play in an "event" to beef up numbers?

If you're going to have three western Sydney teams play at the gigantic Stadium Australia in a triple header then you're better off having at least one all-Sydney affair against a club from the east to encourage supporters to make the trek out west. You could potentially have 15k Manly fans attend the event if you give it the right promotion. There's no way Cowboys are going to bring 15k of their own supporters.

17k this year, 2016-2018 had 12-15k crowds, pretty standard.. mate all you had to say is i fkd up! Yes i hate the broncos that why i left them out, simple... but no it was Grotd being strategic... lets play sydney from one side of town to the complete other direction on a thursday, then make a big deal out of it, why?coz i hate sydney.... seriously dude watch QRL and nothing else, you would have more brain cells by the end of your life, youre wasting them pretending to dictate the NRL

I can cherry pick too... everyone draws a shit crowd against the cowboys, thats why the smarter clubs take them to barlow park, bathurst, central coast, or play them at the smaller ancestral grounds, of belmore, leichardt, campbelltown etc... parra loves the NT btw... just loves it!!!

I chose 2019 because it was the last season unaffected by COVID-19. Stop seeing a conspiracy where there is none.

12-15k isn't a great crowd for an all-Sydney affair.

Do you have any evidence that Penrith vs Broncos would draw a larger crowd than Penrith vs Manly?

I was talking about a hypothetical Triple Header at Stadium Australia with two of the "home" teams being from Western Sydney on a Sunday. If ever there was an opportunity for Manly fans to travel west to see their team play Penrith it would be on a day like this. I very much doubt there's going to be thousands of Brisbane fans flying to Sydney just to see them play. If you want to get 60k fans to Stadium Australia then Penrith vs Manly headlining a Triple Header involving two Western Sydney clubs has a better chance than Penrith vs Broncos.

Magic round is in Sydney every weekend, we have 9 teams bwahaha h ahaha

Nah seriously sydney should never host a magic round, its a round dedicated to promote qld, you could build a case to do it in Auckland, like they did with the 9s previously, but Brisbane is where it should be... sydney already have enough rounds, so making up some fantasy sydney based magic round then complaining about who should play who, is pretty useless

Going by how low crowds are at most Sydney games, even ones involving two Sydney teams, it would make sense to schedule more double headers and triple headers at the new SFS, Parramatta Stadium and Stadium Australia.

Penrith Panthers vs Parramatta Eels and Wests Tigers vs Canterbury Bulldogs would be a good double header for Stadium Australia. I'd like to think that could draw 50k.

It works as a way to get crowds to the game and as a tourist draw. But that late game tomorrow is going to be played in gumboots.

admittedly the weather usually isn’t this shit in Brisbane in may.
