That is a good question to which I too would like an answer!

Notwithstanding the fact that he made the rep teams as correctly stated by SoM, Clay would probably be 18 and if so it is my understanding an election has to be made (i.e. play u/18 for NSW making him ineligible for NZ representation (i.e Junior Kiwis and so forth).

Some guidance please! Anybody?

While I'm not sure his election he is definitely eligible having been in NSW for a number of years. I remember seeing Zac Clay represent St Clair in the penrith comp in under 13s. As a matter of interest Tepai Moeroa was in the same team. Therefore he is eligible to represent NSW under the new eligibility rules.

Agreed.

I'm sure he played in Wenty's U15s as a 14 year old.

From all reports Tyrone May didn't have the best couple of days at the CCC trials but still should have been selected. They have picked a lot of country players.

Yeah congratulations to all the players selected.

Surprised that Tepai and Tanne were selected given their rugby union commitments, will they need to choose - I wonder.

Also, didn't Balmain win the SG Ball comp? But not one player considered good enough for selection - strange.

M4E,

I have it on good authority that both Taane and Tepai will be withdrawing!

Yeah, I heard they were selected in the GPS rep side and with the 4 nations tour at years end probably was not a hard decision.

Not only were they selected for GPS but they play tomorrow night at 5pm with the nsw squad required for medical and training at the same time at leichardt oval

Jennings won't be fit for Origin selection. He is trying to be right for the Schoolboys Championships.

Oliver Clark may jag a bench spot for the NSW 18's.

EDIT: Hearing Matautia and Fonua Blake won't be fit also.

Good call Daz! You have some good sources mate!

If Tepai Moeroa and Taane Milne withdraw like I have been told to expect, you would have to think that May and Tepai Smith are in with a chance! Especially given May's utility specialisation as witnessed by all and sundry during the SG Ball season!

I have been told exactly the same. I think it would be a good call to replace Tepai with a prop they seem heavy in the back row but light up front. Fonua Blake barring fitness would have to be another in contention. May would be a great call for Taane given the seeming lack of a true utility. Assuming Hastings is half, Hutchinson 6 and clay 9. They are again well served in the outside backs assuming Aitken has been also selected there with Dallin, Johnston, Morgan, mata'utia and Meehan's flexibility.

I was thinking that Hastings will be the utility off the bench with Armstrong and Hutchinson as the halves?

Tatola and Armstrong were selected.

Penrith were the most consistent team all year and only got one in.

Think it shows what a good all round team Penrith were. I think like Balmain they didn't have the individual stars but a great team.

Interesting to note that Penrith could have had 4 players given that Zac Clay, Tepai Moeroa and Tyrell Fuiamono are all Penrith juniors now all with Parra.

I am surprised at the omission of Brendan Cox from the Dogs. From all accounts he had a great SGB season (which was reflected in the points scoring charts). In addition he was there for the U/16's (in 2011) and again for the U/17's (in 2012 -albeit a development team). I know he is in the Dogs U/20 squad but has yet to get a run. Can anyone shed light on injuries or the like that may have precluded him from selection?

The same goes for Brad Deitz of the Roosters who was also there in 2011 as an U/16, and went that step further as an Australian Schoolboy in 2012. I know the Roosters with their star studded SGB line-up didn't perform to expectations, but Milne and Meehan excelled once they went to NYC, showing there individual class. I believe Deitz is in that same category. Was there anything precluding him or was it a case of bad luck for both lads?

HB was on the money! Both lads played for GPS tonight, and were no-shows at the medical. Luke Yates and Liam Knight have been brought into the squad!
