I for one would not have an issue if Gallen were made captain. He hates Qld and loves NSW which is good enough IMO

To all those who say he is too much of a merkin etc etc to be captain, I remind you all how much of a tool Ponting used to be and the uproar it caused when he was appointed to the Australian gig.

Gallen's not fit to wipe his arse, in any aspect of the sport. The only thing Gallen has over Alan Tongue is size.

I will give Tongue a wrap for his work ethic, but Gallen has that too, Gallen can pull of a big hit, Gallen can rumble with the best, Gallen has experience at the highest level and he is feared. SOO is different to a standard NRL fixture..........Tongue is a definate no go.

i'd have tongue in my team any day. would make a great captain at origin level too... but will they really make an origin virgin an origin captain? surely you have to earn at least 1 or 2 stripes at that level first...

God help NSW. A captain needs to be respected by his peers, a good leader and a cool head.

We dont want a firebrand, at times a grub and nutcase who is liable to giving away cheap penalties as our leader. If his form is ok, in the team, but please do not embarrass the great state of NSW by letting him be our captain.

I believe there are 16 other players on the paddock too who contribute a little more collectively then a bloke with a "c" next to his name
but make no mistakes, tongue has shown more leadership and is more respected then Gallen ever will be

and ftr, tongue is a better lock forward too

tongue is agreat player and well respected in rugby league, but he is not a better player than gallen, never has been and never will be. take your raiders goggles off for a moment. gallen has made mistakes with his on field behaviour, but is consistent, always a threat in attack, makes a heap of tackles, plays the full game and can pull off the big play his team needs. not sure about captaincy but deserves his spot for nsw as one of our few forwards who can penetrate the defence!
