NSW Team 2014

The only reason Merritt got picked was because he was falling over the line a lot for Souths and a bunch of geniuss kept pressuring Daley saying he'd been overlooked for too long.

Token selection that backfired.

Tupou offers a contest in the air and has actually put it the hard work for his tries through tackle busts and line breaks.

If I were a NSW fan, I'd want to see.

1- Hayne
2- Morris
3- Morris
4- Jennings
5- Tupou
6- Maloney
7- Pearce
8- Gallen
9- Farah
10- Tamou
11- Cordner
12- Scott
13- Watmough

Res- Lewis, Grant, Merrin, Reynolds

Not sure they can win in 2014, but QLD have to lose eventually...

Maloney appears to be a lock now for some geniused reason.

If a good support player with little to no playmaking ability, poor general play kicking and terrible defence can get picked for NSW it gives every mediocre half hope that they can one day play rep footy.

The same description also goes for the other contender Reynolds. Luke Walsh should come back to Australia he might be a chance.

I am not a fan of Maloney or Pearce. But be honest, you don't have an alternative halves combination that you know will be any better.

big hit!

because most of the other halves NSW has at its disposal are geniused themselves. he's less of a genius apparently because he can kick goals.

preaching to the choir, brother. :music1:

Team selected by NRL.com (predictions of course!)

1. Jarryd Hayne
(Parramatta Eels)
2. Brett Morris
(St George Illawarra Dragons)
3. Josh Morris
(Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs)
4. Michael Jennings
(Sydney Roosters)
5. Daniel Tupou
(Sydney Roosters)
6. James Maloney
(Sydney Roosters)
7. Mitchell Pearce
(Sydney Roosters)
8. James Tamou
(North Queensland Cowboys)
9. Robbie Farah (vc)
(Wests Tigers)
10. Aaron Woods
(Wests Tigers)
11. Boyd Cordner
(Sydney Roosters)
12. Beau Scott
(Newcastle Knights)
13. Paul Gallen (c)
(Cronulla Sutherland Sharks)
Interchange:
14. Josh Reynolds
(Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs)
15. Anthony Watmough
(Manly Warringah Sea Eagles)
16. Luke Lewis
(Cronulla Sutherland Sharks)
17. Trent Merrin
(St George Illawarra Dragons)

My thoughts:
9/10. Even without Bird and Fifita, the side is well served in the forwards. Malloney comes in by default due to his goal kicking and better form in the last few weeks. Cons: #,4,5,6,7 are all roosters players - club combinations does not always equal origin success (just remember Dragons and 2011).

Pearce and Cordner should not be there. All the focus from commentators will be on them and why they are there. It's shit Daley doesn't need. Cordner in particular will be a loss (particularly with Bird & Fifita already out) but the players need to get the message.

lol Maloney at 7 is working so well for the Goosters right now. What a stupid selection that would be

Hayne can goal kick

I'd much rather see Josh Reynolds at 6 and either Hodkinson or Adam Reynolds at half. That way our 7 can kick goals.

Mind you whoever is in the halves is a moot point as we are going to get smashed in the front row. We have 1 decent prop and the rest are absolute plodders.

I wonder how Sims would go in the front row.

And Cordner is gone now it seems.
