If the Morris boys are both out, who comes in?
Taufua would be a fine selection, but id be tempted to pick Hoppa Jr and Jack Wighton, who plays centre and wing, im not sure.

Yeah, im pretty certain Hoppa Jr is next cab off the ranks... be interesting to see who gets the wing spot. Tafua or Wighton would be my pick.

But hopefully the Morris boys are ok.

Sounds like Brett will be good to go by Game 2, but Josh has done his PCL and could be looking at an extended stint on the sidelines. Real shame, because the pair haven't even gotten close to realising their potential together in attack.

I think you've got the backs right, but there is no way Greg Bird isnt coming in to the side. I reckon Hoffman will go to the bench for Tony Williams

I agree with others that there is no way Bird won't be back in the side.
Like him or not he is born for origin.

I had Bird in the back of my mind when at first and then simply forgot him.

You are quite right though. Bird will start. Jackson back to 18th man

So Josh Morris and Anthony Watmough are gone for game 2.

That gives space for Bird and Hoppa to come in.

5. Brett Morris

7. Trent Hodkinson

9. Robbie Farrah
10. James Tamou
11. Greg Bird
12. Beau Scott
13. Paul Gallen

14. Andrew Fifita
15. Trent Merrin
16. Luke Lewis
17. Ryan Hoffman or Tony Williams

That will be the team. Both Hoffman and Williams were ineffective, Williams can make the excuse that he wasn't on the left as he is accustomed too and Hoffman can say there wasn't much happening on the left side for NSW.

Hoffman starts or won't be in the squad at all. Specialist left-side forward in the starting team for organising the defence on his side of the field, just like Scott on the right. They don't have the impact to come off the bench and would be a waste of one or two interchange spots.

If Bird comes into the team as the left-side forward, Hoffman will be the one to completely miss out, i reckon.

having Williams in the squad and using him as a middle forward as Daley did in Game 1 was/is a gamble. Daley obviously sent him out with the agenda of standing and offloading in tackles and creating second phase play. It was effective when he was on in Game 1 but you're never going to get big minutes out of T-Rex in that role and we didn't. He won't have the stamina to last in the middle, but it's obvious Daley doesn't expect him too. If he can use his size to draw defenders and offload thus creating space and generating another phase of play, then that puts QLD on the back foot and adds to their fatigue.

What? Are you sure Williams came on as middle forward? I thought he replaced scott on the right edge and Lewis came on as MF?

Anyway I think Hoffman has some decent hole running ability and he could be more effective later on as players tire out. But I've also just read a report saying that Anthony Watmough will be playing this week with a torn bicep. If he's going ok, I'd give him that 17 jersey.

Josh Morris was probably the worst player to lose. Once again kept Inglis quiet all game. Will's defensive game is a bit of an unknown quality to me which is a worry, because QLD will no doubt once again hammer that right side and retaining Scott is a no brainer.

For the forwards I would like to see Gallen (if fit) to shift back in the front row, allowing Bird to reclaim his most familiar spot. Woods to the bench.

Apparently Brett Morris is out of the rest of the series with a fracture and ligament damage. Makes his effort that more heroic.
