NSW Team 2017

It's like this.

Pearce is by far the best performed NSW halfback this season and gives the team the best chance of winning. The other names you have mentioned have been rubbish and lol @ moylan 'dominating' the broncos, the game was over.

His 16th performance may not be any better than his other 15 (most of which were superior to Reynolds last year BTW) but it will be better than any other NSW half on form and that's the point.

Don't worry though, you will get another chance to solely blame him if we lose this year despite the fact the result won't change with anyone else there.
His form leading up to origin have been great for so many other years yet he's failed miserably time and time again. Moylan when given the opportunity to play in the halves (a position he's never played in at 1st grade) carved up and won them the game.

A dead rubber game which history tells us QLD just doesn't take seriously.

Not sure what you don't understand. Bullet points might help you.

1. The Australia team, particularly for the ANZAC test is hardly picked on form. See Ferguson and merrin as examples
2. Moylan isn't the reserve starting half, Maloney is and no one is saying he shouldn't be in the NSW side.

Of course we want Pearce at HB. He is the most in form half NSW has, a point no one here actually refutes by the way.

As for Boyd as captain. I have no inherent desire to see that. Looking through the predicted team, he just seems to be the obvious (only?) choice though, especially with Woods out

A dead rubber game which they were leading up until the last few minutes and defended with all they had! Yeah they wearnt trying. Get real.

As for you other points:

1. Yes you're right it isn't and that's because form is highly dependent upon how a team is going and competent selectors realise that premierships areant given out in April. Chad Townsend is the premiership winning halfback of the previous season and that more important then who's in form 8-9 weeks into a competition.

2. Moylan isn't in the reserves for Australia however he was in contention because Mal (the most successful coach in origin history) knows how capable Moylan is despite his recent slump in form due to his teams poor performances as of late.

I understand you get butt hurt for your boy when he inevitably stinks it up in Origin and gets his justified criticism.. It's cute you want to defend him.

Do you think he's even been a 7/10 in any of those 15 performances so far? I remember a couple of games I'd have rated him 6 or 6.5/10 but that's probably been his best couple of performances so far. Plenty of games I'd have rated him less than 4/10 though and that famous 1/10 game that inspired a gif was particularly memorable.

I hate to break it to you but James Maloney is our best and currently only decent halfback. We have a few decent five eighth options to complement him though.

Also I remember how brilliantly Shitchell played against the Broncos a few weeks ago. I'm pretty sure Moylan's three try assists in 20 minutes has Shitchell's comparative performance comfortably covered.

1. Tedesco
2. Bird
3. Hayne
4. Ferguson
5. Trbojevic

6. Moylan
7. Maloney/Reynolds

8. Fifita
9. ? All options are pretty crap TBH. Left field option - Pearce? He can pass and defend, and we can leave the real attacking stuff to others.
10. Boyd
11. Frizell
12. Cordner
13. Merrin

14. Klemmer
15. Vaughan
16. Tamou/Paulo/James/Campbell-Gillard
17. Graham

The Panthers forwards are dogging it so we'd better not pick Moylan - Valheru

But but but Maloney has a #6 on his back in the halves for the Sharks so he can't wear a #7 on his back for NSW and play in the halves.

After all Thurston changing the number on his back really ruined his Origin career.

The reason we won in 14 with Hodkinson was in part because Hodkinson isn't Pearce.

Where I am coming from is almost any half back is going to give us a better chance than Pearce. History shows that. The key with Hodkinson was he knew he wasn't very good and just got the ball to Hayne and other more talented guys.

Pearce thinks he can play at this level but he just gets in the road.

I didn't say they weren't trying but clearly they aren't as motivated in a dead rubber.

So you agree the Australian team isn't picked on form, good to know.

Yet again it's everyone elses fault but Moylan's that he is in rubbish form

If reynolds was an 8 last year than yes, pearce has been 7 or above plenty of times. He has had shit games, no argument.

I don't really care what you have rated him TBH.

The whole team was diabolical against the broncos. What's your point?

I didn't say that

Again i didn't say that but keep clutching at those straws.

On top of that he conveniently forgot to mention that 4/6 of the roosters wins this year were against clubs sitting at the bottom of the table lol.

So?

Moses Suli is a star of the future. Few years down the track I can see him somewhere in the side

1 try, 1 line break, 160 metres and 10 tackle busts

As an 18 year old

Outplayed Jack Bird

All in a losing side

Qld know how to play Pearce. They don't know how to contain Hayne - so just get him into 58. Origin isn't about combinations or anything like that. Just get the ball to the dangerous players as often as possible.

For once a decent thought.

Hayne could work at 6 with Maloney at 7.
