Tedesco ??
Ferguson
Dugan
Hayne
B Morris
Maloney
Pearce ( sigh )
Klemmer
Farah ( double sigh )
Vaughan
Cordner
Frizzell
Jackson ( have heard this tip )

Bird
Trbojevic
Merrin
Paulo

I think Hayne should be fullback if he is going to play. I'd be happy for Tedesco to miss out if this was the case, but I know it won't be. Haynes best is way ahead of Tedesco.

Tedescos best is also pretty dominant. You have both of them in the team and Teddy is the future anyway

People are so quick to forget how f**king good this kid actually is

I don't necessarily think Hayne should be in the team. That's the team I think will be close to the mark given current injuries.
I'm saying that in my opinion, if you pick a Dally M winner, play him in his position. I'm not suggesting Tedesco isn't quality, just that at his best, Hayne is better and somewhat wasted in the centres.

Picking players by club position is rubbish...1 they are skilled footballers with attributes that suit multiple positions and 2 club football have independent set structures that mean sfa at rep level let alone another club.

Laurie Daley and fittler playing centres and lock etc to accommodate other selections are perfect examples of just great footballers proving talent is greater than anything else

Origin is a step up in calibre. Every player (theoretically) has excelled against the average club player. Sure, if you have certain players who are ball-players such as Moylan at fullback, then he can and should make the transition to a half. Daley and Fittler played several positions at club anyway so they were tested in various positions.

But saying a player such as Jackson as an example can go from a club edge forward to an origin middle forward is stretching it. same with turning halves in to hookers. they need to defend in the middle against the best middle forwards in the game. that's not an easy transition.

the easier positions to transition from club to origin/rep are obviously full back & centre onto the wing, and this has been done countless times. for most other positions, unless player has experience in the position, it would be extremely risky to change club position for Origin.

jackson played lock in 2015 in the 11-10 loss (cronk field goal)

he also locked city country 2015 leading to that game, with frizell in the backrow

he played there for city because Daley would've asked Fittler to trial him there.

tackled his heart out in defence, but essentially left NSW down 1 middle forward / prop in attack because his carries had absolutely no impact on the defensive line.

jackson is not an elite middle forward and shouldn't be playing there. other options are killing it at club level in that position, such as JTrob. there is also debate about him being the best NSW option for his customary right forward position. frizzel is a better option at both middle and right forward.

compare him to a guy like Parker who was exceptional in both phases of play and constantly put NSW on the back foot in attack as well as making tackles in defence as required by the props, middle forward and acting half. i just don't know why Daley has picked him there and is still considering it.

:p

no gallen or greg bird, but farah will be there so he'll probably stick stink it up again. best thing for him is peats to be selected and no farah to meddle around the ruck.

pearce needs all the merkins who historically get in his way to piss off. 2 are gone, but one will remain.....and it's the one who always gets his hands on the pill before him.

until he can stamp his authority on the team like he does at the rooters, then he'll struggle i reckon. but if cordner is captain as is reported, then he may lay down the law and tell the rest of them to get out of Pearce and Maloney's way. Don't think Robbie will listen though.

he played there because the game was in the wet and blues wanted some mobility in the middle of the field...which is usual at anz for origin.

based on the scoreline, it nearly paid off....can be easily argued playing another lug on that track would have meant we lost 12+.

regardless, point is moot, you asked the question and got your answer, stop deflecting it now.

and yes bird is another example of an typical backrower playing lock doing so 11 times for the sky blue

Would not surprise me if woods makes a miraculous recovery and is named nsw captain

For some reason he is the face of all the nsw origin campaigns. You can just smell it coming

i never asked a question.

he wasn't all that great when he represented NSW as a middle forward, otherwise he'd hold it down indefinitely, or he'd be selected by Meninga/Hagan to play it for the Roos either as a starter or in the rotation......does neither. elite players are great on both sides off the ball, not just defence. the two middle forwards for Oz are NSWelshman - Merrin starter and Frizzell in the rotation. and JTrob was even brought in ahead of him as a replacement.

Meninga/Hagan as countless Origin-series winning coaches show who they'd have in the middle and overlooked Jackson several times, even going beyond Daley's Origin selections. enough for me.

this is what your original arguement was against

But saying a player such as Jackson as an example can go from a club edge forward to an origin middle forward is stretching it

my response was that he has already done it.

now you're presenting OTHER arguments against, such as corey parker being the test incumbent.

let's be frank, we could counter most but i'm sure you'll still find something to hate
