NSW Team for Origin 2

1. I would really like it if someone could explain to me why Timana Tahu is playing State of Origin.

2. Like-wise Kurt Gidley, Trent Barrett and Matt Cooper.

3. Surely State of Origin should be about rewarding young players who are at the top of their form. It is a series of very entertaining exhibition games after-all. Nobody really cares who wins do they?

4. And even if they persevered with the attitude of 'we HAVE to WIN' (which seems to be why they are so conservative in their selections - because they are more intent on not losing the game than they are on anything else), then where do they think their next young five-eight is going to come from? Their next young half? Their next young centres? NSW put Terry Campese at five-eight last year and gave him ONE game to be a STAR. Then they go back to old Trent Barrett again. These old guys have had their turn; give someone else a turn!

IF hayne gets off id say we will still see Dugan in the side on the wing. WIth tahu and Scott/Idris in the centres and scott or idris on the bench aswell...id say scott off the bench will be good my back row would be Hindy, Gallen and Lewis (if he gets off) but if not gallen lock with waterhous in second row,.....f**k creagh off!

lingard, SOO is not about young players FFS, it's picking the best team available and yes it is MUST WIN.

Look at the age of some of the QLD players. This is why we've lost 4 in a row, we won't give the gutsy old Bulls a run.

We've tried picking the 'in form' outside backs who are too small to defend and just get hammered, which is why they want guys like Cooper, Tahu, Scott etc... And Trent Barrett actually is in good form at the moment.

1. Intimidation Factor. Been there. Theoretically can keep Inglis in check.
2. KG, MC - not sure. TB - They think a seasoned pro with a youngish halfback just in case Pearce fails.
3. I think it is more about pride in the people involved.
4. I think you need a old head with a new one. So Pearce and Barrett. Two young ones could lose it if they are sledged or intimidated by the qlders. e.g. KK and Mortz is a prime example. If we had an old head with one of the two, then things would be more organized.

0 props on the bench - well done Daley you thoughtless bogan...

Hindmarsh on the bench :? If they won't start him DON'T PICK HIM - his skillset is redundant on the bench. example: Queensland make a break through Inglis in the 14th minute - Hindmarsh chases down the middle and collars Thurston when he receives the ball. Oh wait - no he doesn't because he's on the bench!!!! example 2: grubber into the ingoal in the 18th minute bounces around off legs and is loose - Hindmarsh is there to flop on it - oh wait, no - n the bench still.

I don't get it? When a guys chief skill is his ability to play 80 minutes, have a tremendous defensive workrate and the ability to always pop up in the right place at the right time to defuse situations - it is POINTLESS to bench him.

$10 says they plan to use him as a prop?

I thought the same when I saw the team, in the interest of balance, you need to drop Creagh or Waterhouse, start Hindy and bring Snowden onto the bench.

Snoz said on MNF that both Gallen & Hindy play for their clubs as props. Problem is that Hindy does not have the go forward as Mannah (for example).

I agree with you, start Hindy or don't pick him. Having said that, Hindy has never been used as a 80 min player at origin level.

tbh starting back row should be:

11. Hindmarsh
12. Gallen
13. LOD

Subbing House for LOD and TLL for short stints or at prop. Should have picked Mannah over Creagh as you have 3 80 minute workhorses right there.

All the people saying dont pick hindmarsh at all if you are only going to play him on the bench why don't you ask nathan if he only wants to be picked if he is in the run on side. I have a feeling he might be happy with the bench spot.
